Except food.. everything was just hopeless.
Food that too because it is a very old chain. Service is a big NO! And they expect tip!
I think its high time that people start understanding the meaning of tips!
Never coming back

One of the worst HSBs I have been to. Being from Texas, the Saravana Bhavans are really good. We ordered an onion dosa and full meals. The onions in the onion dosa was raw and inedible. Also the full meals did not have any poriyal, kootu or varuval. So basically sambar, kulambu, rasam but nothing to eat with. The fruit salad was so so as well. Please do better!

Always loved to be at HSB. As usual I loved the bajjis and dosas I had. It was crowded when I visited and they forgot to bring one order. But these all happens in the peak hours.

My family of four visited this restaurant (while visiting NYC) with high expectations, but unfortunately, we were disappointed by the quality of the food. The medu vada did not taste fresh—it seemed either fried out frozen or simply reheated from a previous batch. We also ordered Ghee Dosa, Ghee Masala Dosa, Paper Roast, and Mysore Masala Dosa. All of them lacked the richness and crispiness you'd expect, with barely any ghee or oil. The masala dosas came with just a small scoop of potato filling, making them feel sparse and underwhelming. This was far from the quality I’ve experienced at other Saravanaa Bhavan locations.

The service experience was also disappointing. The restaurant appears to have two seating sections—one that’s crowded and resembles a fast-food setup, and another that’s newer, quieter, and more upscale. We were seated in a congested corner of the crowded section. When I asked if we could move to the other section, which clearly had empty tables, the staff declined, saying it was reserved for parties of five or more. However, I noticed several tables occupied by groups of four, three, and even two people, which made the policy seem inconsistent or arbitrarily enforced.

Considering the premium pricing, we felt the overall experience lacked value for money. Our family didn’t enjoy the visit, and we’re unsure if we would return.

Food was fine - not my favorite kind of Indian food. Atmosphere feels like you’re in a cafeteria

Awesome authentic Indian food, smiling faces and value for money. I like dosas and idli , sambhar tasted very delicious too. It’s worth to try masala tea. Overall very good food in the heart of NYC. The only downside is that employees need to be little more polite and helpful, instead of pushing back on requests. Also the restrooms need little more frequent cleaning.

Not worth the money for food quality and ambience. You can come at much fancy restaurants at this rate.

Horrible quality of food, especially when delivering online. Burnt, half cooked and absolutely dry food. Sambhar is given as if it’s a favour to the customer, so less that it can barely dip 5 bites. Never ordering from here again. Please stop spoiling the actual name of Saravanaa Bhavan, India.
