Large spacious dance venue. El Colmado hosts fun monthly traditional bachata socials worth the trip. The club is entirely underground with great air-conditioning albeit limited ventilation. The bar spans the length of the space and there is seating all along another wall with a couple of tables by the entrance.
The entryway at the end of the staircase is a bit narrow, and further blocked by the check-in/payment booth. Not sure if this poses an inconvenience for larger-bodied individuals. This is also not an ADA-accessible place as the only way to enter is through that steep staircase descending straight from the street-level.
Bathrooms are located in a dim alcove. They consist of all-gender stalls with solid locks and floor-to 7'+ doors. They are clean and well-kept, could use more paper towels and more attention to the sink areas (for ex. the sink towards the back usually lacks soap and paper towels).
All in all, the dance socials are so good I'm willing to overlook any slight inconveniences.

Don't walk fast or you will pass it. Wonderful use of basement space. Definitely cool lounge atmosphere. The Midtown burger was fantastic, and the bar staff was very accommodating. Don't look for separate restroom facilities, this place is non-gender. Great space!

With a cover for an event + food + drinks, this can be a $100 night. I put one of my drinks down and turned around and the bartender took it and tossed it. I've never in my 25 years of living in NYC have had a bartender toss a drink so fast (and without asking).I asked if they tossed my drink because there was still some left in it, they said it was empty and they "saw it with their own eyes". I also saw it with my own eyes that it still had some left, the person next to me at the bar also mentioned the drink was not empty.Then I get a bill with automatic 20% gratuity added after they tossed a not finished drink and were rude to me.Never coming here again.

Went there for New Years eve for a Brazilian event. Coat check was horrendous. One person took agonizingly long (almost 30 minutes) to check in coats near the door. Asian female bartender on the corner clearly hated her job. She kept making nasty faces, skipped me multiple times and helped other people, got the drink order wrong, and was on her phone right in front of patrons. Tab included an automatic tip. Then coat check almost lost my jacket and after 10 minutes of searching for it asked me to come into the room and just look for it. Thankfully it was found. Definitely won't return.

Whatever you do, do NOT waste your time and money on The Drossomyers Holiday Circus. The performances were so terrible we had to laugh. The magician was painful to watch, the room went silent for every joke. The acrobat looked like it pained her to perform. All their costumes looked so cheap and needed a thorough ironing. Overall a poor and low budget show. Run!!!
The performance called Drossomyers Holiday Circus Fete 2023 at the Secret Room was so tragic it made us laugh. So my holiday gift to others is - don’t spend your money on this!!! The Secret Room was a nice enough venue, however the caliber of acts appearing at the “fete” were poor overall. The master of ceremonies (a substitute performer) was the only strong performer. She saved the night.

False advertising. Got a ticket through eventbrite and then messaged the number about my birthday and was assured I'd have a discount and nope.. still 40$ to get in. The music was dope but not worth 40$ a person ??♀️ especially on my birthday! That's wild. Go to a place that honors birthdays or get here super early with a ticket or they beat you in the head with the prices at the door.
