TLDR: I would not recommend this place to friends/family
the food was ok - the shishito peppers were the best thing I had, I did not like the beef dumplings. overall the presentation of the food was very nice. but what got me was the fact that the hostess required I threw out a drink I came in with… and even worse is she told me I could finish it outside. as a woman who just gave birth, walking into the restaurant with my newborn baby, after being soaking wet from the rain outside.. I wish the hostess had a little more empathy. she proceeded to put us in a part of the restaurant that required my husband and I to carry the stroller up a few flights of stairs.

Throughout the dinner (2 people), nice atmosphere, good food, very kind and attentive waiter.
At the time of the bill (211$) the waiter gives us the card machine with suggestions for percentage of tips, we insert 5$ of tips thinking that it is equivalent to a tip in France (we do not have the obligation to give in France).
The waiter comes to collect the bill, leaves, and comes back to see us 1 second later and calls out to us very aggressively, saying “seriously $5?” .
Being a little confused and not sure if I understood correctly (it seems so unreal), my wife answers uh yes? while being shocked and we see the waiter expressing his displeasure to the manager just 1 meter away from us while looking at us at the same time.
So the director comes to see us to ask if something went wrong? We naively answer that no, everything was very good and that the service was very good but that we do not understand such a change in the behavior of the server because of the amount of tips.
He then asks us why we put $5 in tips, to which we respond a little embarrassed by the request that we don't know, we just decided that it was $5 but that seems to pose a problem. problem and that it must be a cultural difference. He tells us that it doesn't happen like that here in NYC and in other cities in the US, and that we have to put at least 20%, all this in a very condescending way to the point of cutting the conversation short and inviting us leaving (going out and looking at his cell phone while we were talking).
After that, we looked on the internet and actually saw that it was necessary to give 15% or 20% minimum in restaurants (according to custom, and not a law). If we had not been attacked as soon as we took the bill, and if someone had just explained it to us kindly, we would obviously have added the required amount.
On the other hand, we are extremely shocked by the change in behavior and the aggressiveness of the staff.
Tourists are not automatically aware of all the customs, in particular the % of tips in a country, it would be a question of explaining it to them kindly instead of going to attack them.

The sushi here is excellent, and everything came out surprisingly fast. The prices are fair for the quality.
Love this place! Good food!

It's such a great treat when the service is just excellent like it is here. There is so much staff, you really feel that they take care of you with 0 wait time. Highly recommend. Honestly, very affordable for a kosher place.

Excellent food, atmosphere, and service make this a 5 star kosher restaurant. Prepare to spend 5 star dollars as well. Right in the heart of midtown, perfect for pre or post theater shows.

A contemporary space, with great service and very good food - mixing Peruvian and Japanese. A bit pricey but money well spent.

Wow, this restaurants is so expensive. Some people came here with a private driver. And all of that for average food. Why? Why? Goodbye. Goodbye.

I recently visited this Restaurant and had an unfortunate experience that I feel compelled to share. While enjoying my meal, I was on a phone call with a friend using speaker mode. To my surprise, the manager approached me in a very rude manner and informed me that talking on the phone was not allowed.
I understand that restaurants have policies, but the way it was handled was completely unacceptable. Instead of addressing the situation politely, the manager's tone was harsh and dismissive. This left me feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome, which overshadowed what could have been an enjoyable dining experience.
I believe that customers should be treated with respect and courtesy, and I was disappointed by the lack of professionalism shown by the staff. I won’t be returning, and I hope the management reevaluates how they communicate with their patrons.
