A serene retreat in the heart of the East Village where you literally get “whisked” away by the exquisite art of matcha tea service. The selections here are high quality, ground and prepared in accordance to tradition … evoking the tea’s journey, personally curated by tea master Mrs. Mori. A NYC gem not to be missed!
The matcha was delicious (but expensive) and the people were very kind and knowledgeable. But note that it’s not a place to sit and chat on a rainy afternoon, I guess it’s typically takeout only. The space is so small, my friend and I were ushered around/asked to move seats a handful of times before we were asked to leave after less than 15 minutes sitting there. It was raining that day and we were hoping to just sit and chat for a bit, but I guess this isn’t that kind of...
Well worth the experience to taste authentic matcha, prepared as it should be.
We tried the hot matcha and it was strong and delicious.
However, the store is very small and a bit confusing. They only offer take out and no indoor seating, the matcha is prepared in front of you at their counter.
I'll definitely come back to try the milk variants.
