This place took resos on its site and literally said outdoor dining avail. I went all the way there, it was 95 degrees, and sure enough, it was closed. Sheesh, care just a little bit about your customer and have some basic courtesy

Overall just really nice sushi. For the price point it’s truly fair value, with a nice lunch menu with the traditional accompaniments that one comes to expect from upscale Japanese restaurants.

Delicious food and the sushi chefs were great and super friendly. My wife is not a big fan of seafood, but she tried their mango shrimp roll and LOVED IT!!! I got the lobster tempura, which was amazing. Watching them make the rolls was so cool and they really try to keep you entertained. Definitely glad we stopped by this place on our trip to new york and will return on our next !

Soooo good! I stop in here for lunch and am never disappointed. Service is a bit slow, but they're attentive and the taste of the food makes up for it big time when it does arrive. I've brought countless coworkers here and they always leave raving. I haven't tried to order take out from here but I just might soon enough. This is definitely the sushi spot to go to if you're around the area. Tastes amazing and super affordable lunch specials.

More like a 3.5, but rounded down to 3 since I don't feel like it's worth 4 stars. My friend and I were looking for a decent sushi place in Murray Hill. After reading the great reviews on Yelp, we decided to check out Shinagawa. Overall, I'm not sure I agree with the 4.5 star average rating that it currently has. I ordered the Sushi Shinagawa dinner entree. It came with a lot of food: an appetizer sampler, miso soup, salad, 10 pieces of assorted fish, and a tuna roll. At $35, it is definitely worth the price for the amount of food you get. However, the quality was inconsistent. For example, the miso soup was surprisingly good but the appetizers were all lacking in some way (everything was either too sweet or overseasoned). Most importantly, the sushi was generally fresh, although the Maine uni gunkan-maki tasted off with a (bad) lingering aftertaste. My friend ordered the hamachi yuzu, ikura nigiri, and a salmon avocado roll. She would have ordered more individual pieces of nigiri but everything else that she wanted was not available the day we were there (including the Japanese sea eel, Spanish mackerel, and Hokkaido uni). She did enjoy her ikura and maki roll, although the hamachi yuzu was a bit too salty. Service was friendly and the place was nicer and cleaner than I expected it to be. I will definitely check this place out again to give it another try. I'm also interested in their happy hour special, which seems like a great deal ($3 beers, $4 wines, $1 oysters/clams on weekdays from 2-6pm).

I read really great reviews for this place, and it is just OK. I am not blown out of the water for the food. The waitresses are really nice but they're almost too bothersome as they kept checking on when we were ready to order or if we want to eat more. Part of the dining experience is to eat and enjoy the food but also the ambiance, staff and service. For that I had to give it a 3. We shared a couple apps (OK) and had the sashimi dinner which was good, and fresh. I think it's decently priced which is why it might be a more popular option for sushi.

Stopped in for lunch this week. Had the $17 sushi special. The fish was really fresh and super delicious. Comes with a miso soup and salad. Would dine again!

My favorite Japanese place for lunch and dinner. This place has very fresh sushi and their bento boxes are very delish. Well worth the visit. My favorite is their 3 sushi roll lunch special is so perfect.

Wasn't to hard to find the place but once I walked it it was smaller than I expected but in a good way. The ambiance was good for my friends and I (we were a group of 7). The food was really good. Presentation and the timing of our food was just right. I would go to this place again, especially recommend it to people! Highly recommend the shrimp dumplings to start off, then I got the signature Shinagawa Roll-which was so fresh and very flavorful!! It was very good! It came with 8 rolls and they were pretty big. But I will say I had to order another roll bc I was still hungry. So I ordered the Shrimp Tempura Roll, which I believe has to be one of the best shrimp tempura roll I had so far. Oh don't forget to get some sake, great options! Overall, great place and would go again!

We would give 0 star review if that was an option. I have been a loyal customer coming here since they first opened. Tonight (2/21/2020), totally disappointed. Not only did we wait 20 minutes to order, we also received the worst, entitled service ever. Both waitresses ignored us, prioritizing cleaning out plates when there was no rush for next guests, getting water to all other customers (Caucasian). While we tried to be understanding, they ended up taking an order from a new (Caucasian) couples who walked in 10 minutes after us. When we raised our concerns to them and asked to speak to a manager, the only response was. “We are busy, I have other things to do.” As shameful as it is, they left me no choice but to say that they are racists against their own race.

Looking for great Sushi near our hotel on Park Ave. It was easy making reservations and we were showed to our table right on time. After we sat down to begin ordering our some of our favorites in a good Japanese restaurant was when the inherent problem became obvious. For this entire restaurant they had two wait staff and one helper. The food is really good. The price is more then reasonable for a Japanese restaurant of this caliber, however as much as the really nice competent waitstaff wants to deliver great service there is just no way possible. When you look back at previous reviews you see this as the defining issue. Whether it is the owner or the manager making the decision, someone should seriously consider adding more wait staff to provide truly great service. If you don't mind waiting for your food, a refill on your water, your saki delivered in the middle of the meal then this is your place. If you have patience and time then you will really enjoy the sushi.

Happy hour 4-6 $3 beers! Affordable sushi rolls with a lot of variety. Friendly service although when i was there, it was kind of empty. Not sure how they'd be if they're busy.
