Spicy miso ramen is mediocre. Did't really taste the miso. My partner don't like the Agedashi tofu. I personally feel acceptable. Beef Nabe Udon is good. (Finally!) We came in when they were just grand opening. We thought the grand opening restaurant would perform great but it's actually the opposite. The chair to table distance is too long. I felt I had to keep bringing myself up when I was eating. It's not friendly for short person like me (5'2")You get okay/acceptable Japanese food here. Not great. But okay food.Picture is to show that we really finished the stuffs and then leave the comments.

I went in expecting the ramen to be better than it was since they had 4.8 stars. It was good, but no where near a 4.8 for me.

Ok ramen, not special, gotta buy your egg as an extra and it seems like it hasn’t been marinated either, the noodles are too thin and boring. It’s like a 3.5/10 ramen. For the price you can get way better ramen somewhere else. Service is lovely, nice people working there.

Went there for lunch with four others. Wr call the Donburi but different types. The apps were the usual Edamame (can't mess this up) and some tasty pan fried Gyoza. We all enjoyed our Donburi and finished them but I thought it was kind of bland so really 3.5 on the food.

My friend and I decided to check out Shokudo 34 on a Saturday night around 7:30pm due to the glowing reviews on Google and Yelp. We were seated immediately, and the restaurant was about at half capacity. At first, we were seated near the door and someone didn't close it well on the way out, so the draft was strong, but one of the staff members felt it and closed it. The interior is a no frills, casual dining spot.I got the tempura nabe udon ($17.95) and my friend got the vegetable nabe udon ($16.95). While I agree this is pricey for udon, I was shocked of the reasonableness of the price given the location. My friend thought the vegetable udon was good, but needed more flavor, so we asked for chili flakes. I had the opposite problem with mine. If I'm getting udon, I do not want spice. There were a noticeable amount of chili flakes in my udon, and it was a noticeable kick. I think they should advertise that on the menu, but now you know and if you also do not want a kick, make sure to make that clear to them when you order. Flavor-wise, I liked the flavor of the shrimp tempura. The batter was the right thickness and the shrimp tasted really yummy! The broth was standard for udon, noodles were chewy, and they provided a lot of "throw-away" vegetables. I would prefer a smaller amount of higher quality ingredients, but that's personal preference.Service was decent! They made a few check-backs and refilled water. They also asked before clearing away plates and did not make us feel rushed at all. I'm torn between 3 or 4 stars, but overall, the experience was average. If I do end up coming back, I will change my review to 4 stars, since that means I enjoyed it enough to return!

Shokudo 34 has outstanding food and service. The servers were very welcoming and attentive to my family. We ordered many dishes, including the Sea Bass, Oyster Ramen, Okonomiyaki, and Agedashi Tofu. They were all cooked to perfection, and the oysters in the ramen were to die for. I love how they had some vegetarian options that my sister can eat (the agedashi tofu and tofu mushroom donburi). The sake also was the perfect compliment to our appetizers. I was also surprised to learn they have 2 locations, one in hoboken, NJ and the other near my workplace in NYC. I will definitely be back to try more of their food!!Vegetarian options: There are some vegetarian options including the tofu mushroom donburi, seaweed salad, veggie skewers, and vegetable gyoza

A nice casual Japanese spot in ktown. Doesn't blow me away but is pretty good and will satisfy the craving.

After a sleepless night, a 6 hour flight, and hotel drama, we were in dire need of comfort food. Coming into the 20° weather from LA, we knew ramen was the move. We came to Shokudo 34 as it was less than 10 minutes from our hotel, and I'm so glad we did!! My friend and I had the spicy miso ramen while my other friend had a noodle bowl. Everything was soooo flavorful! The spicy miso made my nose run (amazing), and my friend's shrimp noodles were to die for. The service was quick and our waters stayed full, I would definitely come back!

Bad ventilation and no heating... Opened door at night below zero freezing temperature... Not sure really Japanese dishes there. Very friendly service.

Our second try of this place and I think this time is solidify our opinion of this restaurant. First off, the oil they use to deep fried anything needs to be changed. Everything comes out two shades too dark which indicates the oil isn't fresh. Our first time it tasted rancid, this time it's improved but still not quite fresh tasting. The fried chicken albeit the old oil and thick over salted breading has nicely seasoned chicken pieces that remained juicy. The Oknomiyaki is more like a pajeon with not enough punch than the name sake, it's thin and lacking on ingredients, which results in a dense dough that misses the freshness if enough lettuce was in the batter. All of the noodles are overcooked by a minute or so so it's mushy and lack the toothy texture when it got to the table which was very disappointing. The service on the other hand was attentive and friendly. Drinks are priced very reasonable so come for a drink and go eat at K town for better ramen and better izakaya fair.
