Just visited Skylight dinner as part of a school trip. On past trips we have eaten in big themed chain restaurants that have been overwhelmingly disappointing. Skylight dinner was so much better. The food looked really fresh and the whole group enjoyed the meal.

Ordered Via Grubhub. I’m not sure if they’ve changed the kitchen staff, but the quality has definitely become hit or miss lately. I asked for crispy fries and got soggy, pale ones instead. The salad dressing container was only half full — even though I requested extra, since this has been happening more often. For $20, I expect a well-prepared salad, but it seems like the staff either isn’t paying attention to special requests or simply doesn’t care. This used to be my favorite neighborhood diner, but unfortunately, not anymore. I live only a few blocks away and always tip $5 plus the Grubhub service fee, yet lately it feels like they don’t care about getting orders right, even for loyal regulars.

I love the Starlight Diner, located at 402 W 34th St, New York, NY 10001, it is a wonderful old school diner. One of my absolute favorite items on the menu is the grilled Blueberry Muffin. Toasted up on the grill with a ton of butter, it is amazing!!!

This is the first stop I make in the morning as soon as I get off the train every time I come to NYC! The Skylight Diner knocks it out of the park every time. From amazing food, to the friendly hospitality, and the retro 50s vibe, its always a pleasure.
The staff goes above and beyond to keep the diner very clean, approachable, and nostalgic.

Skylight diner is easily one of the most underrated diners in NYC. With the patented slippery floors it'll never take away from the great food, great staff and BIG PORTIONS! When you enter be careful with the floors you'll be skating to your table(maybe the many times i go i catch em at a bad time)

While its a great late night place for food I found the service excellent but the food underseasoned. My table didn't get any refills and the modifications towards platters lacking (adding beef or adding spread) i still won't deny the fact that observing everyone else in there they did a good job removing plates and garbage quickly and attentively. Will definitely come back regardless.
