Best prime rib, great martinis, awasome wine list, dessers to die for. A must whenever in the City.
Not nearly as good as it used to be food wise. Service was not great. It's fine as a classic spot but I wouldn't recommend going out of your way for thisz
The food was very tasty. Sevice - excellent!! The whole atmosphere of the place has an elegant flair. We loved it
Tony server top notch service across the board ! One item that could be better is the Caesar salad . Croutons should be bigger and didn't seem home made??? Everything else top notch thanks for a great evening!
“An amazing lunch experience. The steak was cooked to perfection—juicy and full of flavor. The atmosphere is elegant yet cozy, perfect for a relaxed meal. Service was outstanding, especially thanks to Benny, our waiter, who made sure everything was perfect. Definitely a place to return to.
El restaurante está viejo,le falta mantenimiento, los baños sucios,la carne con un alto valor$$$$$ sin sabor,no volvería, hay mejores opciones.
I am sure I will spell his name incorrectly, but Masiel was fantastic! Food was delicious. My daughter's first New York steak at the best steakhouse in NYC.
Is the NYC Steakhouse Scene Dead? The answer is no — there are plenty of great spots. Unfortunately, the famous Smith & Wollensky is no longer one of them. There's nothing romantic or magical about this place anymore; it feels like the nostalgia and ambiance have been sucked out. Let's go over the issues. 1. The Ambience: Smith & Wollensky is a certified frat house at this point. A table across from us had eight guys banging on the table and chanting like they were at a sporting event. The staff looked uncomfortable but never intervened. With no control over their own dining room, the room turned into a madhouse. 2. The Service: At a fine dining restaurant, the expectation is top-tier service. Ours was subpar. Little attentiveness, long gaps between check-ins, and every need required flagging down our server instead of proactive service. 3. The Food: Short and sweet — the steak came out cold, and both the asparagus and broccoli were simply steamed with zero seasoning. Conclusion: The experience didn't warrant a near $800 bill. Extremely disappointed and sharing so others are aware. If you're looking for a romantic, classic NYC steakhouse experience, this is not the place.
The food was excellent, but the service could have been better. The initial server who served us was not very facilitative and welcoming. Instead, it was a second server who served us better, and even recommended a good martini for my wife.
We told the restaurant that it was our wedding anniversary and the staff recognised this on arrival. Our two servers Adam C who guided us though service and Brice who served were fantastic nothing was too much trouble. They made us feel extra special and really made our day

Dining at Smith & Wollensky was an outstanding experience. The steakhouse's classic, elegant exterior and warm, polished interior set the perfect tone for the meal. We started with fresh West Coast oysters, which were briny and delicate—a fantastic opener. The medium-rare filet mignon was tender and flavorful, perfectly paired with a fresh salad in a superb vinaigrette. A bottle of the house red wine added richness to the meal, complementing the steak without overpowering it. The service was exceptional—attentive and knowledgeable throughout. For top-tier dining with excellent food and service, Smith & Wollensky is a must-visit.
Outstanding even though many secret service were inside the place. We enjoyed a tour of the meat stage locker and wine storage room where we picked out a bottle of wine to go with dinner Once again a GREAT NYC experience for folks from the CA Bay Area
Our server, Dennis Chen, was excellent. Hubby and I had the oysters and scallops as starters and they both were delicious. We both had the 8oz fillets and they were cooked to perfection. Best steak we've had in a long time. Melt in your mouth with some lovely charry crust. We also had the lobster tails and they were delicious. We would highly recommend this steakhouse.
This timeless restaurant sets a standard above anything normal. Truly amazing meal, as always. Travelling the World over the last 40+ years Smith and Wolensky's is as good as it gets. Since my first visit in March 1994 they have always delivered and in their words ended all arguments. Thank you!!!!
Other than it being extremely loud— totally amazing. The food was great and reasonably priced. I recommend the lobster tail and onion rings!
