We really enjoyed our brunch at Society Cafe. The combination of food, service, setting and reservations accepted made for a very comfortable, pleasant experience as a brunch should be.
My friend and I went there for Restaurant Week and the food was well worth what we paid for it. The portions were generous, the flavor was great (though as a society we need to lower our overall use of salt) and I loved my chocolate s'mores bread pudding. I highlight this dessert because I'm not a lover of chocolate—at all! But the alternative was a gelato and it was brick (cold) outside, so I chose the bread pudding and boy was I happy I did — it was scrumptious.
Love this place so cozy and great atmosphere. The staff works hard to accommodate. The food is delicious. I love the brunch and have been many times. Highly recommend
We went to Society Cafe for New Year's eve. The atmosphere was so festive, the food was excellent and the best part was Hailey the manager. I had a discrepancy on my credit card from the online booking, she looked into it personally, she made sure we were well taken care of and her level of care and professionalism was unparalleled. Its so nice to be in a place where hospitality really matters. I will be back and I recommend Society Cafe if you are a New Yorker or if you are visiting the city!
Great dinner - they took us last minute with a big group. Really fun ambiance. They also managed my daughter's food allergy perfectly.
Lovely and beautiful ambiance, the food was okay but nothing special. The drinks were great though. i would recommend for drinks and apps but maybe not worth it for dinner.
We went for Christmas Eve dinner. The Ambiance was beautiful. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. The food did take a long time but our waiter apologized that the kitchen had gotten backed up and gave us a round of drinks. A really lovely celebratory evening.
I dined with a friend early on Christmas Eve. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for the holiday. We sat in a very comfortable spacious booth, and were attended by a very pleasant and helpful waiter. The food was delicious and portions were generous. A nice addition was warm popovers served with our meals. The room became moderately full but was never so noisy that we had to speak up to hear one another. In total it was a lovely experience, and I plan to return often.
1 star service with 4 star food so I’ll give it 3 stars. Too bad service, and presumably management, is so bad because it’s a beautiful space.
We were seated for 11 minutes before we even got water and didn’t get an apology or acknowledgment of the delay when we finally flagged down our waiter. He then acted like we were bothering him wanting to get our order in. I am somewhat sympathetic since it seemed like it was just him managing maybe 8 tables but then we saw another waiter and a busboy helping.
Management needs to staff better and train their waiters to not be rude. Too bad but explains why it was maybe 30% full for breakfast.

Food and service were excellent and setting and ambiance perfect for a quiet evening in New York. The restaurant is on the lower level of the Hotel Walker - lots of mellow wood, a lounge with couches, and the restaurant is quiet. Banquettes add extra privacy. A terrific spot with fine food and drink and New York ambiance. Highly recommend.

I’ve been coming to this place for years — it’s always been a great spot for locals and tourists to gather, have a drink, and feel at home. Unfortunately, management’s recent decision to let go of one of their best bartenders has completely changed the atmosphere; Victor Gallardo was the life of this place and many. could attest to it.
It’s disappointing to see such poor judgment from the new management. This place used to have a genuine neighborhood vibe, thanks to the staff who truly cared about the guests. Sadly, that’s no longer the case.
@societycafenyc, you’re making a big mistake — you’re losing the heart of what made this place special. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.
