1 star service with 4 star food so I’ll give it 3 stars. Too bad service, and presumably management, is so bad because it’s a beautiful space.
We were seated for 11 minutes before we even got water and didn’t get an apology or acknowledgment of the delay when we finally flagged down our waiter. He then acted like we were bothering him wanting to get our order in. I am somewhat sympathetic since it seemed like it was just him managing maybe 8 tables but then we saw another waiter and a busboy helping.
Management needs to staff better and train their waiters to not be rude. Too bad but explains why it was maybe 30% full for breakfast.

Food and service were excellent and setting and ambiance perfect for a quiet evening in New York. The restaurant is on the lower level of the Hotel Walker - lots of mellow wood, a lounge with couches, and the restaurant is quiet. Banquettes add extra privacy. A terrific spot with fine food and drink and New York ambiance. Highly recommend.

I’ve been coming to this place for years — it’s always been a great spot for locals and tourists to gather, have a drink, and feel at home. Unfortunately, management’s recent decision to let go of one of their best bartenders has completely changed the atmosphere; Victor Gallardo was the life of this place and many. could attest to it. It’s disappointing to see such poor judgment from the new management. This place used to have a genuine neighborhood vibe, thanks to the staff who truly cared about the guests. Sadly, that’s no longer the case. @societycafenyc, you’re making a big mistake — you’re losing the heart of what made this place special. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.
Breakfast at Society Cafe was great! The food was delicious and the portion size was perfect. Excellent eggs Benedict. Lovely place to meet a small group of friends, love the decor and vibes.

I wish I'd discovered this restaurant when it first opened. Society Cafe might be small but offers a clean, cozy environment. The menu balances fullness with affordability. Staff was outstanding!! Our return is already decided.

I visited NYC with a friend for business and we stayed at Walker hotel. I visited the Society Cafe and was attended by Victor. Victor was quick, very attentive and friendly. He was running around but I never felt ignored and had the best experience...so much so that I visited again the next day and still, again, the same great experience - Attentive, charming, and friendly. Thank you Victor for making my time here even better than expected...I will definitely be back here in a few months when I visit again!!

We love the farm to table food. So happy to dine in a restaurant that buys from the union square Greenmarket! Delicious vegetarian options. Meat and fish are great too. Service was excellent. Our second time here. We will be back!
