My favorite of the sponge cake places in the area. Much nicer decor, the others are usually very run down. The black sesame was my favorite.

One of my favorite spots to come to whenever I'm in New York! I always bring home 20+ of these back to my family every year! Their Lunar New Year/Happy Spongie with oranges and apricot is PHENOMENAL. So amazing, I can eat 6 in a sitting. All their cakes are good but that one is next level. I'm devastated when it isn't on the menu! I've been coming for 6 years now!

It's fluffy, soft, yet somehow custardy. They're also affordable & delightful with their housemade drinks.

A special Chinatoen staple for sure.

Walked in on a snowy Sunday evening and was served immediately. The sponge cakes are all ready to go at room temp. They're super fluffy and squishy, and so light and airy that you feel like you could eat multiple of them in one sitting. Each one was about $2. I tried pandan coconut, holiday sprinkles, and taro. My favorite was the pandan, it had the most unique and standout flavor. I didn't notice the taro flavor much. The sprinkles one is tad bit sweeter if you like that. Though overall it's not a very sweet dessert, and more of a doughy bun flavor.

Incredibly kind service. Super cheap. The hong kong lemonade has fully cured several hangovers. I love it here.

Lovely light $1 sponge cake. Good value. Tried both the regular and black sesame and both were great.

Very cool place to try the unique sponge cakes in Chinatown. Their triple chocolate was surprisingly better than the original flavor.

Good place. I think a dollar is about the lowest you can go for sponge cake in Chinatown, and the place's quick service and extra flavors (if you're into that) make the location a pretty solid spot if you ever want any sponge cake.

Texture is great but of I’m being honest, there wasn’t much of a difference in the different flavor. Would come back

So glad I learned about this special gem in the New York Times video on YouTube! It’s a beautiful story but more so when the product is perfect and not hyped. I tried them all! Delicious. Pandan is my favorite.
