Ashford & Simpson's Sugar Bar offers an outstanding live music experience in an intimate, inviting space. The sound quality was excellent, and the energy in the room made the evening feel special. The staff and servers were warm, attentive, and added to the overall great vibe. The drinks were well-crafted. Desserts were flavorful and delish. I shared a pitcher of the sangria, which was delicious and beautifully presented with fresh berries and orange slices. Between the music, the atmosphere, and the service, it was a truly memorable night. Highly recommend for anyone who appreciates great live performances and a welcoming setting.
Had an great experience at Sugar Bar Restaurant. The food great. The appetizer could have been a little hotter for my taste. The drinks was good. Had a little mix up with my drink at first but when brought to the servers attention it was corrected. The atmosphere was great a little jazz music was playing thru out the restaurant which was great. Overall the atmosphere, food, music and the staff was great too deal with. Would recommend the Sugar Bar Restaurant too anyone looking for an nice cool place to relax and enjoy an good southern meal
We had the best experience, a place was intimate. Everyone was friendly, upbeat, and happy the music of course was incredible and all the talented people that got up and sang it was open Mic night. However, there were some famous people that were there and sang dinner was fabulous. Reasonably priced service was exceptional. Charles was our waiter. He was so on top of it. We left their feeling so good and had so much fun. We didn't even leave until almost midnight.
No place on earth brings the joy of live music, great food and fun people like this oasis Nick and Val built. It ALWAYS make so SO very happy.
One of the best--if not the overall very best--Sunnday Brunch spots in NYC! The staff here is excellent, and the place is warm and friendly. The cornbread is always DELICIOUS, although they are quite stingy with the cuts--a one quarter slice is carved for two people. The meals are always super-duper delicious! We always have an EXCELLENT meal at the Sugar Bar Restaurant, the place we prefer to call Ashford & Simpson's Restaurant. Wonderful restaurant and friendly, capable staffing; we especially appreciate the waiter, Dominic, and the wonderful hostess who always greets us at the entrance with a smile and courtesy., and seats us. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Michael Meyers, president, New York Civil Rights Coalition P.S. Appreciate your taking our suggestion to go back to the full-plate of hominy grits.
Our waitress took our orders but only one order was served first and 20 minutes later the rest of the other three orders was served. Smh 🤦♀️ wasn't happy with the service because she didn't even check in with us and tell us while we were waiting for our dinner to arrive.
Fantastic service and great spot after seeing a great play. The staff was very friendly and welcoming.
I've visited Sugar Bar over 10 years ago and the food, service and ambience was amazing! I traveled back and was highly disappointed as hostess sat us in the back of the restaurant, after 15 min waiting for our server, we asked to be moved to the bar. The drinks (lemon drop) and appetizers were less then desirable. Everyone was certainly pleasant.
It was a wonderful experience. A great night out. I always have a great time whenever I go to the sugar bar.

Great experience at open mike night! Superb singers. The entire staff was fabulous as was the food. Wonderful!!
The person at the door taking the cover charge is ALWAYS rude. The service she gives is consistently horrible but I try to overlook her because everything else is always amazing. Not so much this time. We got sat by the bar and had to order everything through the Bartender which we had to go to the bar to do which if I wanted self service I would've stayed home. But we got moved eventually and then night progressed.
This is my second time at the Sugar bar. Overall I had a great experience. There were 2 disappointments. I was there for Prince night. The show started extremely late. The other issue only 3 Prince songs.
Took my mom as she is a huge Ashford & Simpson fan, food was delicious, vibe was perfect and she got to meet Valerie Ashford! Perfect night we would say!!!
The food was excellent. We are from Orlando, Fl and I am so excited that we made it in to dine. The most impressive employee was definitely the gentleman bussing the tables, running the food, and assisting us with absolutely everything. He was amazing. We enjoyed the live music. But if you enjoy a quiet dining experience, this is not the place for you. I will tell everyone I know who comes to New York about this place.
