Ordered a salmon donburi lunch set (7 pieces) for about $20, found it to be about average if not slightly above average. There was a nice portion of salmon roe/ikura included with the donburi, as well as a small side salad. I think for the price, it'll be hard to beat this quality. Nothing amazing by any means, but certainly decent and far from bad - a great value and reasonable price for sushi, I will be back to try the nigiri and sashimi!

Excellent quality

Pretty average, but for $35 in midtown you can’t expect much more than average. Tuna wasn’t very fresh but the other fish was fine. Don’t understand the hype about this place…

Got 12 rolls delivered through Uber Eats and it was the best sushi delivery I’ve ever received, even the best sushi I’ve had in New York. So fresh and high quality.

When the sushi is still right atmosphere is not necessaryVegetarian options: If you are a vegetarian, Japanese restaurant has some options, but mostly something to do with the seafood

Came here for the hype because I saw a video on IG. I don’t mind the environment as long as the food is good, but it turns out the fish was a little fishy, even though I ate at the table to eat right away. Definitely not worth $38.

Got the sashimi premium. Not worth it. It's fresh, but the serving size is tiny. Literally get twice as much sashimi for the same price elsewhere in NYC. Their order pickup system also needs improvement -- no calling numbers when orders are ready, instead you have to contend with all the other waiting customers to get back to the pickup window and ask if your order is ready or not.

Go for the sushi and the adventure. Process aren’t cheaper bc there’s no atmosphere but why do you need that when your eating pillowy fresh sushi.

Gave Sushi 35 West a visit in person and was amazed seeing the chefs preparing delivery orders in bulk! The place is hidden in a Deli/Smoke shop second floor walk up, there are three small folding tables with six chairs. The atmosphere is not really for a relaxed consumption of the delicious sushi, but ai did it anyway ;) The Sushi & Sashimi Box for $40 was delicious. Next time I go for the online order. Thanks!

Located upstairs above a smoke shop. The speakeasy aspect was fine. I was led to believe that the lack of atmosphere was a direct trade off for stepped up quality and technique. Kind of a bait and switch. The photos for the Sushi+Sashimi for $40 displays photos of sashimi cut to match the salmon. Instead I got decent salmon and some scraps. Everything tasted ok, they use fresh wasabi as well.Overall this is just takeout sushi. It’s not Michelin level technique/quality in a less refined package.

Takeout sushi got a bad rep. But luckily we have Sushi 35 West to prove anyone's wrong. If your deli and sushi spot do not include or serve raw scallop or uni or toro in the regular sashimi or sushi set, come to Sushi 35 West and you will never go back to those sushi take-out places. All the reasons the shop is on the second floor and take-out only reflect on the quality of fish and rice, and yes, wasabi (none of those fake wasabi). Yes, this is the kind of IYKYK spot. Right, you got a brown take-out bag. But you come for the high quality sushi, not those pretentious frill right?Tip: If you want to pick up or take out, enter the smoke shop (yes, it's the same door) on the ground floor and take the stairs on the right. Follow the fish smell and you will find it.
