My go to neighborhood place for great Sushi! The food is great but looks like the portions are getting smaller.
I would recommend this restaurant as the Sushi was fresh, delicious and made beautiful to the eye and delightful to the stomach. Service was excellent and it was also nice to meet the Manager (Horoki) upon arrival and talk a bit while I waited on my guest to arrive. It was my first time there and I would go back even alone to enjoy the food and conversation with quests at the sushi bar and the associates and chefs. Definitely worth your time and don't be fooled by it being expensive. It was priced right if you travel and have been to other places in NYC or other Cities.
Hands down one of the best sushi restaurant in NYC. The omakase course was unique, well-balanced, and very tasty. Chef Oyama is a true master!!

We had a terrific time, the lychee martinis were fantastic, and the sushi was very authentic and extremely fresh and tasty.
Extremely cozy atmosphere, phenomenal fresh sushi & salmon. Solid beverages and the tatsuya age & teriyaki chicken with rice were absolute flavortown worthy

Hands down, this was the best food I’ve had in Midtown — top tier from start to finish. The Spicy Tuna was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. The Tatsuta Age was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, with a squeeze of lemon that brought the whole dish to life. The Salmon Yuzu Soy melted in my mouth — every bite was packed with rich, balanced flavor. The Chicken Teriyaki was also delicious, tender, and perfectly cooked.
And let’s talk about dessert — I’m not usually a big cheesecake fan, but the Yuzu Cheesecake completely won me over. Light, citrusy, and refreshing. The drink recommendations were spot on as well.
Haruki, the owner, personally greeted me when I walked in, which was such a warm touch. The service overall was excellent — the staff was polite, attentive, and genuinely welcoming.
I work nearby and can’t believe I hadn’t discovered this place sooner. Highly recommended — I’ll definitely be back!

This small classy Japanese restaurant is a hidden gem in the neighborhood. It is actually run by Japanese staff and sushi chef with attentive service and manner. We had age dashi tofu, tempura udon, karaage chicken, miso clam soup and sushi, and they were absolutely delicious and authentic. The sushi, in particular, was my favorite…. the freshness of the fish enhanced by the sushi’s rice warm subtle sweetness 😋They also have a pretty decent sake selection. This is now my go to Japanese restaurant in this neighborhood

Best sushi and service I've ever had! Classy and comfortable.
Sushi Ryusei is a hidden gem and an underrated treasure among omakase sushi restaurants. It has quickly become one of my top favorites. The fish is impeccably fresh, prepared with simplicity and precision, allowing the natural flavors to shine. Every piece was an absolute delight. The pricing is incredibly reasonable for the quality and quantity of sushi offered, making it an excellent value. I can't wait to return for another unforgettable experience! LOVED! :)

Our party of 4 had a couple appetizers, a variety of nigiri, a sashimi platter, and a salmon teriyaki dinner. Appetizers of edamame and fried oysters came out quickly. The fried oysters look like they are heavily battered but they aren't. The batter is sturdy enough to hold a shape but isn't heavy. They were fried well and not chewy or overdone. Entrees took a while to come out, maybe 20 minutes after the appetizers, but worth the wait. All the sushi and sashimi was delicious and real wasabi was used. The sashimi platter came with a bowl of rice on the side. The salmon filet was huge and perfectly cooked. Our table was by the window which had pros and cons. It was away from other diners which made it feel somewhat private. But it was also right be the entrance and host stand which made it feel a bit strange when other diners entered and were hovering by the front. Overall, would recommend.
