Did not let us in during the listed grace period on Resy. They clearly were overbooked and looking for any reason to turn tables away. Even after offering to eat fast to only use their listed 75 minutes from reservation time, they still refused. There was also an onslaught of delivery drivers outside which shows that they take too many orders and too many reservations and can’t fulfill them. Do yourself a favor and go to any of the other mid sushi places in the area that are run by someone with a developed brain.

We did the omakase for two on Tuesday night, January 6 at 7pm. My friend and I were genuinely shocked by how bad the food was, to the point that we were embarrassed sitting at the sushi bar and had to tell the staff to stop serving us because we were finished.

We ordered the fried chicken appetizer and did not finish it. Other than the toro, we did not enjoy a single dish that was served. This was especially disappointing because we have both eaten at Sushi Seki UES before and had a very different experience. That said, we realized afterward that our last visit was probably seven to nine years ago, so this felt like a major decline rather than a one off issue.

The total cost was around $280 all in, which made the experience even harder to swallow given the quality. We left deeply disappointed and unfortunately will not be returning.

There’s nothing wrong with Sushi Seki—if you like overpriced, average sushi. I ordered a tuna avocado roll for $14, and the soft-shell crab roll was $19 for just five pieces, mostly cucumber with barely any crab. The eel sushi was served cold. It felt like a total rip-off. Overall, the sushi was mediocre at best, and they don’t even offer rice paper. New Yorkers, you can absolutely find much better sushi in this city—no question.

Disappointing. Sushi/rolls/sashimi lacked freshness, one order was so bad it had to be sent back yet still appeared on the bill, and the service felt rushed and impatient. Prices were double what you’d pay at truly authentic places in the area and around the UES. With plenty of far better sushi options within a short walk, this was a waste of time and money, I will not go back unfortunately.

Quality of your order depends on whose working and if they are actually reading the order. For example: a hand roll is NOT a sushi roll. I order 2 salmon SUSHI ROLLS..what did I receive, not a sushi roll

Sashimi tasted bad and felt like rubber, snow crab roll came without crab and only with tempura flakes, eel sauce had the consistency of water. Called to complain and ask for a refund and the hostess completely disregarded me and brushed it off. Paid $80 for 3 incomplete mediocre tasting sushi rolls and and 2 pieces of inedible salmon sashimi. Not only is the food quality bad, the customer service is even worst and they do not care if their customers are satisfied.

This was our neighborhood spot. No matter how long passes between visits we are always warmly greeted, like family. The sushi is outrageously good, Exceptionally fresh & beautifully presented. Their sake selection is top tier.

I came here for a business dinner that one of my colleagues set up. I never grew up eating sushi and I generally avoid seafood so when it was decided the clients wanted a fancy sushi venue I was rather concerned. I was concerned because I did not want to offend the staff/chefs by not eating or look awkward by not ordering food. Being raised by parents that instilled the “eat what’s out in front of you” rule while out of the house I decided to be “brave” and I can now say I have tried/eaten sushi. To the staff, I know I did not eat the entire entree that was provided. However, I did push my boundaries and tried the sushi which is something I would never do. While
I am not “converted” to a sushi lover, the food was good! The staff were incredible, while the restaurant is small I can’t hold that against them as they are in the heart of NYC. Would go again, personally I would tell them of this experience and ask them to introduce me to the world of sushi slowly and I would imagine they would know exactly what to do for me.

Phenomenal sushi. I don’t love their rolls (contrary to everyone else) but the nigiri and salads here are to die for. Honorable mention to the green tea. 10/10.
