I had a really wonderful time here - and enjoyed the excellent food! I found the service to be extremely attentive, and all the staff very responsive to needs and the fact that I am pescatarian and requested one modification to the set omakase. I got the 15 course omakase with the sake pairing and all of the pieces were delightful! The fish was firm and fresh, and tasted great, and I loved the light hand the chef used for the sauces. I will definitely come back.

I have been twice in the UES and once in the UWS locations. Quality is consistent and service is very nice. Bear in mind this is not a Michellin star experience, for several reasons, but said this, I would totally recommend visiting. I’ll definitively come back.

Freshest fish I've ever had in NYC! Masterfully crafted sushi every time, and the prices are super reasonable.

We ordered the premium omakase for $68 and everything was delicious! I like the pacing, the presentation, and the complex flavors that were involved in every bite. I especially likes the sea urchin, fatty tuna, and scallop. I picked this place because of the no tipping policy because it makes such a huge difference in the price! I would definitely go back here and I want to try the lunch!

Another excellent dinner at Sushi W. Had been to their other locations (E. Village, UWS) in the past but this was our first time trying the UES location. We had a great meal opting for the premium omakase set for $68. We were warmly greeted by the manager and the hostess. Soon afterwards, we were seated for a wonderful assortment of nigiri sushi and handrolls. Everything tasted fresh and the sauces/flavors applied really complemented the fish. Any while the chef served us directly, we had a friendly and capable server who handled our drinks and explained each dish. We brought our son this time (his first omakase) and he enjoyed watching the chef char with a torch, some of the pieces. We also ordered the Suigei saké which was delicious and was a nice pairing. After the course was finished, and even though we were full, we ordered some extra pieces simply because it was too good to stop. Looking forward to our next visit.

For those who've never been to a Sushi W, I'd say the decor is minimalist which puts the emphasis on the meal. And of course, their no-tipping policy really makes dinner (or lunch) there a great deal. An even better deal is if you take the discounted 5pm or 9pm seating. Enjoy!

Come here for price but left disappointed. Better off eating somewhere for a little more. Not sure which dish they served that I got my food poisoning from. They really don't know how to manage how much sauce and wasabi they put on.

The shrimp nigiri had a good taste at the beginning but had an aftertaste.

The sableeye fish was good with the torched finish. This is the only one I would recommend. But in my opinion, not worth coming back to this place for this.

The unagi sashimi had decent size bones that hurt when I try to eat it. And texture is not quite there. Spitted this out.

The 3rd fish of the day - Orata with lemon juice & kombucha powder had scales in it which I had to also spit out.

This is good for the ones that aren’t so strict on tasting the actual sashimi, prioritize just saying they went to eat somewhere that serves omakase and focus on mostly socializing with their group. Can tolerate or like their heavy or overreliance on combination of sauce & wasabi to make up for the lacking in quality and handling of the food.

There was also no decoration around that really make it feel like it is a Japanese omakase. Chef doesn’t socialize with the customers and they don’t really pay attention to each customer’s pacing. It’s more get in and get out.

Restroom: Yes; no clear signage, nice size but would be a struggle to get to for those with wheelchair. No problem if you are on clutches.

I went for the 12 course $38 lunch omakase and it was so good I immediately wrote this review.

I was in and out under an hour, which is NOT a bad thing. Perfect for a lunch and still well spaced out. Almost every course was explained to me.

Fish quality was absolutely phenomenal. I loved every single bite. Soy sauce and wasabi are pre applied and after your first course or 2 they ask if you would like any adjustments which was great. I also left the omakase completely full and satisfied.

My cup never went empty once and service was absolutely fantastic and so friendly. It was only me in there for the lunch omakase, hope to see more people come for lunch.

Tldr; great quality/service, fast lunch, amazing deal

A perfect hidden gem… The owners taught us how to traditionally eat the Japanese Amasaki dinner… Highly recommend the sake tasting… Every dish was prepared to perfection, and I enjoyed it immensely… so much. I didn’t even take a picture.
