At just over $100, Sushi Makase is a cost-effective restaurant in New York. The chef has the sense to balance the flavors. And the woman serving me was attentive and kind, so I was able to eat with peace of mind.

Amazing sushi, better than what I had next to the Tsukuji Fish Market in Japan.

This omakase spot does a well thought out 14 course that includes everything - from apps to nigiri to desserts at an affordable price. What I really enjoyed about Sushi Yolo compared to other omakase spots in this price range is how it’s nicely paced with your entire meal spanning 1.5 hours (other spots are usually churning out guests within 1 hour). As I said before, all the dishes were so well thought out and the pieces that were presented were so beautiful. My absolute favorite was their steamed egg topped with ikura and uni - it was so warm, smooth, and custard-y with the ikura and uni providing the perfect umami balance. As expected, service was amazing and Alex, the host, was so thoughtful to offer me tea throughout my meal as I was the only one in my party who was not partaking in sake.Highly recommend for a date night or a fun outing with a group of friends.

Perfect Omakase place next to Central Park .I was there a few days ago with my friend and we ended up loving this place so much! Alex and Jake the chef are the most adorable persons who brought the joy to the Omakase .The time went by so quickly when you have a great time with great company and this place is definitely the place that you will feel the most joyful during your dining. The freshness of the fish is incredible.❤️ I have tried so many Omakase in nyc and I can guarantee that this spot is incredibly mouthwatering and precious to quality/choices of fish .O toro and fatty tuna was unforgettable.

You're going to Sushi Yolo for an experience you will never forget. I have been going to Sushi Yolo since it first opened last year. The experience does not feel rushed as it is a 1.5 hour meal for 14 thoughtful and creative pieces. The chefs Peter and Jake are amazing and interactive. Peter is so attentive to details, he always remember my request "no wasabi, less soy sauce" without reminding him. Once you are there, they will treat you like family. The host Alex is so fun to talk to. He will make sure you are comfortable. I always leave this place with a full stomach and a happy heart.++++ this place is BYOB. Give this place a try. Whether you are going alone (like I always do) or with a group of friends, you will not be disappointed.

Fabulous everything at this omakase restaurant. Intimidate, friendly, and delicious. They could be charging a lot more. Get a reservation before the Times writes about it.

The environment is very warm and comfortable, the ingredients are fresh, and the shrimp in the sashimi is so sweet and chewy—I love it so much! The owner is very enthusiastic, and both my friends and I absolutely love it! We will definitely come often.

We rented the restaurant out for a private dinner and it was DIVINE! Incredibly prepared, fresh fish with beautifully subtle flavors. The monkfish liver? The egg custard? The everything else? WOW. Great price point, too. Wonderful chefs and the host, Alex, was amazing.

The seafood was very good quality, which I loved. I felt like the rice was a huge let down which is why I’m giving the food a 3. It was slightly soggy, and didn’t seem to have enough vinegar.

Sushi YOLO provided us with an omakase experience that we haven't had at any omakase spot in New York or Japan. Chef Jake's unique take on his courses and his passion for omakase really showed through this experience. Thank you! We'll be back.

Went to Sushi Yolo based off of a friend's recommendation for a bachelorette dinner. I've had a lot of sushi in NJ, CA, MD, and Philly but this location hands down is probably the best tasting sushi I've ever had! There were two sushi chefs in the restaurant who attended around 6-7 customers, our chef primarily attended our Bach group which had 6 people. They gave us a complimentary glass of sake for celebrating the bride to be which was nice. The restaurant checks in with any food allergies which was nice. The first course was a selection of sashimi, followed by the nigiri sushi curated by the chef. My favorite was the cherry wood smoked salmon which had a wonderful wood flavor and the double layer toro. The dessert course came with a black sesame ice cream and toasted green tea which complemented itself very well. Would definitely come back here again with friends in town when finding a solid omakase place!

It’s great, I just wish they would turn down the lighting and make the music more mellow.
