Surprised it was nearly empty for Saturday lunch. It should have been a lot more people!

The gumbo was warming and like a warm hug, and the fufu was amazing as well, although i had trouble handling it because of how hot it was.

Truly a hidden gem. I would love to come back and try other things.

Fantastic food. I have not had a lot of African food in general or Ivorian food at all so I can't speak much to the authenticity, but it is very tasty. I forgot the cost, but it wasn't expensive, great value, and again delicious.

We ordered grilled fish (poisson grille), sauce gombo (stew with meats and okra). The dishes came with a side so we got foutou (made of plantains), another fried plantain side, and rice.

The grilled fish was very flavorful and balanced. It came with a red sauce that made even plain rice so delicious. It wasn't too salty, it was moist, and so fresh and sweet. It wasn't terribly complex with many herbs, but it was well cooked and used time as an important ingredient better than most marinated grilled meats ive had. As a rice person, I liked it best with rice.

The stew paired well with the sweet stretchy foutou. Also not too salty although it is a stew so was a bit salty. It was richly tomatoy and earthy and cooked for so long each bite of the tender meat tasted like stew. I can't decide if I liked the stew or the fish better, as my preference changed to what I was currently eating with each bite.

I think everyone can appreciate the food here even if you don't like certain ingredients or aren't accustomed to them.

We came for lunch and the smaller restaurant didn't have many people, but the food didn't take long and servers were friendly. Restroom was cute and clean. I wish I could come back to try more of the menu!

The Owner Sylla is a very incompetent businessman he was unable to solve a simple problem. Sylla is a very rude individual a lack of professionalism. I will never order again from this place. What a crazy experience with an owner of a business. I can not believe it!!!

Dining in this restaurant is a joy of the purest kind. We came in late on a Monday night and had the best West African food that I have ever had. The unsuspectingly scrumptious grilled fish with vermicelli was fabulous as well as the lamb shank and fried plantains and gombo stew with fufu. The lamb was tender but a bit on the dry side, though the stew was warm and rich.

The food was so amazing. We tried our waitress's recommendations, and everything was on point. I'm so glad we came across it. Would 100% recommend.

Delicious Sauce Gumbo with Placali – the stew was tangy, savory, and rich, with well-seasoned cow leg pieces. The Placali was soft, chewy, and had a slight tanginess that paired perfectly with the gumbo. The service was incredibly friendly and welcoming.

The owner here goes above and beyond to ensure that his patrons feel welcome and appreciated. The food was great, portions were ample and service was top tier. The food is flavor and is prepared as if you were serving it for your own family.

You will definitely plan a return trip here.

I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Sylla! From the moment we walked in, the owner, Sylla, made us feel so welcomed, and the atmosphere was nothing short of vibey and inviting. The energy of the place was infectious, setting the perfect tone for the evening.

Mariane, our server, was a true gem! She was not only incredibly friendly but also attentive to every detail, making sure we had everything we needed. Her recommendations were spot on, and every dish she suggested for our table was beyond delicious. The portions were generous, and each bite was bursting with flavor.

Sylla is a must-visit! Can’t wait to return for another amazing evening of great food and even better hospitality. #HarlemAmbassador #GoodVybz

my friend suggested that we go to this restaurant tomorrow 9/19 for dinner. she wasn't sure if they had drinks, and if not, would they allow a BYOB. I called up to find out. A lady picked up, didn't say hello...so I said hello, and her response was, "What do you want?" I had to look at my phone because I was taken aback. I asked if I had called Sylla, the restaurant, and the response was in the affirmative. I told her I was a potential customer and that I didn't understand her rudeness and hung up.

I am West African. When I say that I hesitate to support my people, I am told I am wrong for it.

THIS...THIS IS WHY. If they are not lacking in the areas of personable service, they don't have half the menu prepared, or they are overpriced.

I was calling as a potential customer, and she spoke to me as though we had a fight.

Walahi....please, if you are not good with people, DO NOT PLACE YOURSELF AT FRONT OF THE HOUSE! STAY IN THE KITCHEN. If you are having a bad day, let the phone go to voice mail!

outstanding culinary experience! came at 11pm on a Monday night and can say this is the best west African food I’ve had. Every thing was superb, had the grilled fish with the vermicelli which was so good, lamb shank with fried plantains, gombo stew with fufu, and several ginger drinks. compliments to the chef, the owner, and the service. If I had to choose 2 dishes to get for the perfect pairing, it would be the grilled fish and the stew. Vermicelli was unexpected but delicious, and plantains were perfectly fried. The fish was grilled perfectly, flavored just the right amount. Lamb was very tender, and maybe only slightly dry. The stew was richly complex in flavor and comforting. The ginger drink was surprisingly spectacular, with just the right amount of kick to have me wanting more and more. Thank you Sylla.

Good food . I got Foutou for the 1st time and made really good conversation with the neighboring table . Cozy environment , love the brick walls , I love the music videos instead of sports being played . You aren’t rushed out . I’d say it’s very community and family oriented and a good place to make your routine spot . Hard to find this type of food even in the city so I’d love to see it stay going for years to come .
