An excellent restaurant for many reasons. 1) Lovely setting, atmosphere and staff2) Really reasonable prices for the quality of the food on order and the popularity of the place3) The food was just exceptionally executed. They’ve taken authentic Sichuan Cuisine and elevated it, cleaned up some of the unrefined flavours and delivered it.The best dish was the Pickled Fish, they’ve kept the sourness to a good level and made the fish the star of the show in stead of the swimming pickles.Top mentions to the Deep-fried shredded eel (not seen this on a menu before) and it was a great “snack dish”. The sesame balls dessert was a really good surprise, the sesame paste was smooth and not overpowering at all (like it normally is). The chicken & lotus root dish was very well executed, soft chicken and I liked that they kept the bones to a minimum (often it can be more bone than meat).Average dishes were the shredded potato, sweet & sour pork and pork cold dish. All them were well done but of the standard I’d normally get in China.

A pretty good experience. The food is authentic enough. The peppercorn was not spared which gave all the good numbness!

Swinging Pork Belly is a must-get.Of the hundreds of amazing restaurants in NYC, this is by far the best. I come at least once a month. I wish I could give them 6 stars.

A pretty authentic Sichuan restaurant in Manhattan; the environment was lovely, we sat near the bamboo fish pond, really relaxing ambiance. Their menu selection is huge and all are classic Sichuan dishes. We went for the swinging pork belly, the green pepper beef tripe, the boiled beef, the spicy lobster, and pea shoots. Our favorites were the appetizers, and the pea shoots was done really well too, not too oily or salty. The spicy lobster was actually a bit disappointing - not that much flavor, and the boiled beef was just okay. But definitely want to come back and try other dishes. Oh and their tea was surprisingly good.

The waiter has a great attitude! The taste is very good. Those who like spicy food will definitely like this place, but the place is a bit small and you need to queue up at night.

The waiter was really bad. I had been waiting for almost an hour for the takeout and it was as if I couldn't see it. I didn't even confirm that the takeout was ready when it was put on the table. Later I saw that no one had taken the takeout so I called the waiter. Later I found out it was me. I'm here to spend money. Even if I'm busy, I'll make sure that the service in Flushing is better. I won't come to this restaurant even if I drive for an hour.

Big selection of authentic Szechuan dishes. Went for a birthday and it was great for big groups. Will definitely need to come back to try more items off the menu.

Two people ordered four dishes. The dishes were not finished yet. I just picked up my mobile phone to take a rest and urged the guests to pay. This time, the experience was really bad. I used to eat here often, but I never want to come again! !

This is my 5th time going to Szechuan Mountain House, and it still wows me each time. This is my favorite Szechuan restaurant in the United States. Everything on the menu is great, as all dishes are made with quality ingredients and expertly cooked. I highly recommend getting the swing pork belly, white rice, and eggplant as side dishes. Their more mild flavors help balance out the intense Szechuan heat from the main dishes. For the mains, I suggest the fried chicken and boiled fish. The completely different textures & heaviness of both fishes help round each other out. Overall, I plan on continuing to return here. The first impression is good with the nice decoration. The background music is a good add-on while all music fits my taste.I came around lunch time and some kitchen stuff is still out there in the dining area which is pretty annoying. The service is great too. The waiter even helped me change dirty napkins and dishes during the course.Food is so good that even with myself, after a simple bo-bo chicken, I have to add their signature dish to taste! Laziji it is!
