this is a restaurant for little kids
We recently visited a Tacombi and it immediately stood out for its atmosphere. The decor felt like stepping onto a relaxed tropical beach with fun colors, and an easygoing vibe that made it a pleasant place to sit and enjoy a meal. The environment was definitely the highlight.
Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite live up to the setting. The meat in the tacos was noticeably dry and overcooked, which made it tough and took away from what could’ve been great texture and flavor. The sauces were decent in that they added some taste and helped soften the dryness a little but they lacked depth and didn’t bring the bold, vibrant flavors you would hope to find in a great taco.
Service was friendly and polite, but on the minimal side. Everyone was nice, just not very attentive or present after the food arrived.
Overall, it’s a beautiful place with good energy, but the food needs improvement to match the atmosphere. With better-prepared meats and more flavorful sauces, it could easily become a standout spot. For now, it’s more of a place to enjoy the vibe than the tacos.

Had the steak and shrimp tacos, nothing special but reasonable prices for NYC

I've ordered from this store often and food is usually always good and hearty. Dined in for the first time on a Saturday evening and it's a cute smallish location with outdoor seating (it was a warmer day in November). The waitress seemed harried, however, and she mixed up our order. We were given the item that was mixed up but were also charged for the extra taco that we didn't originally order 🙃
Other than the messy service it was a good visit - our table was clean and we were seated quickly outside despite it being a busy evening. Corn cup and tacos hit the spot: crispy chicken tinga was delightfully spicy, fish and shrimp were nicely seasoned, and the birria melted in the mouth. We tried to order the churros but the waitress misunderstood that we were okay to wait for them and brought out the bill instead. Maybe the service will be better at a less busy time 🤷🏽

Awesome place for tacos and cervezas. I always stop by here when I'm in the neighborhood. Friendly and fast service, love their corn chips and chicken tacos with the cream on top.

I am 45 (mind you) and was asked for my ID (passport) upon ordering a beer, that's all I'm gonna say. I never leave negative reviews, but did not like the attitude of the waiter at all.

This is literally the only Tacombi in the city that doesn’t let you get a side of chips without guac or pico.
