I love this bakery, the experience….bakery produces some good stuff, some bad. Taro bun is very good, fresh is great. Coconut bun awful, egg tart very mediocre, I think some of the savory buns are ok. You have to experiment. Cakes are roughly put together, some good, some lackluster. Staff is very busy but always helpful and very good despite not speaking much English. But the general experience, especially on a cold day, of eating a warm taro bun w perhaps a coffee, is so good....
My boyfriend loves this place and makes us stop here every time we visit Chinatown. He particularly enjoys the milk tea and fried fish bun. The prices cannot be beat and the line is long but moves quickly.
There is no bakery like Tai Pan Bakery in New York! Everything here is incredibly delicious, fast, and so affordable. The desserts are perfectly balanced—not overly sweet—making them an absolute delight. The pork buns and Portuguese egg tarts are the reason my friends and I have been coming back for years, and we wouldn’t go anywhere else for cakes—we order from Tai Pan for every occasion!
