We had a nightmarish experience with this restaurant on Friday night. Although we've eaten here many times in addition to ordering delivery and most of the time we've been happy with the food and the delivery service. But a couple of times we encountered downright bad sushi which is of course unacceptable so we stopped ordering from them or going there for quite awhile due to their inconsistency. We decided to give them another try recently because we particularly like a special roll called ocean 13 and it was very good. So we called again for a delivery at 6:30 on Friday, which we know is a busy time. After waiting over an hour we called and were told that they are "working on it"!!! We called a few more times and were told the same thing, rather than "it's on its way ". After waiting for more than an hour and a half they were still "working on it" huh?!?! When the food finally showed up it was quite good. So I gave two stars instead of one. Ordering a sushi delivery is supposed to be a pleasant experience, ours turned into a nightmare and we're done with this place.

The sushi pieces are so extremely gigantic that you cannot eat the "roll" without it completely falling apart. In 20 years of eating sushi I've never seen sushi served this way. It ended up not being an enjoyable experience as I couldn't eat the roll without it breaking apart. In addition, the pieces are so ridiculously oversized that you never get to experience all the flavors of the roll in one bite because the right side of the roll is totally different than the left side. So it kinda defeats the entire purpose of sushi.

This was by far the worst thing I've ever ordered at a restaurant. The soba noodles were so alcoholic tasting and the flavor was so overpowering. The mashed potatoes were fine they didn't taste like much. And the salmon was so disappointing, no flavor at all just tasted like pan fried salmon. Would not come back nor recommend to a friend. If the food doesn't taste good then at least have better presentation.

Highly recommend the sushi for two! This is my favorite spot in nyc for sushi. Green tea ice cream is also incredible here - it's made at their sister location Takahachi Bakery.

I work around the area so I ordered here for lunch one day. Great price on the lunch specials. Even though I ordered my meal to go, I felt like I was eating at a 5-star restaurant. The presentation was elegantly done, and the taste was spectacular.

Great neighborhood japanese joint. The fish is definitely quality, and the staff is very nice. We got: miso soup (red & white), agedashi, spicy karage, and sushi sashimi platter for 2.Everything was delicious, red miso soup was better than the white, agedashi was A+, and the platter was also great too. The spicy karage was a bit burnt, and slightly underwhelming.

A Tribeca staple. We have eaten at Takahachi for the last 14 years when it was our local dinner spot or lately when we are in town from the west coast. Make sure you end the meal with their milles crepe cake!

Some of the best sushi I have had in a very long time. Affordable for what they give you and so fresh. They were incredibly accommodating of my dietary restrictions and have a gluten free miso soup that is so good !! Cannot recommend this place enough. Will definitely be back soon.Dietary restrictions: I have celiac and a lactose allergy, and my friend and I do not eat shellfish.
