I just walked in to buy tamales and the owner told me he only had three left. One of each type. I saw whole pots full. I took on of each. A man came in after me speaking in Spanish and asking for a few and the owner said yes. They didn’t know I speak Spanish. If you are Black don’t go here.

These tamales taste like home in the best way possible. I’m so glad they added a few small tables so I can enjoy them in the middle of my walk.
I ordered raja y queso, pollo en mole, and a champurrado. Perfect winter snack!

Best tamales and oatmeal or rice drink. I go to the north east corner 116th street and Lexington avenue location (with the large blue umbrella). You have to come pretty early; she runs out by 10 AM. Lupita is usually here everyday besides Monday morning at around 7 or 8 AM. She accepts credit card also. No tax with cash. Credit card has tax (3 non-spicy chicken tamales and large drink is $12.52. Tamales are $2.50 each, small drink is $3 or large at $4). I’ve been getting tamales almost every weekend for years. I’m glad I decided one morning to try it (after seeing the long line). The rice drink has a little bit too much cinnamon for me. She usually has hot drink (oatmeal, rice, chocolate) or cold drinks (hibiscus, and other flavors). Lupita and her deaf daughter are so sweet. She leaves this location around 1 PM (if she’s out by noon, she won’t restock).

Cash price $2.50/tamal but they accept card which comes out closer to $3/each! Very cheap considering how good they are.
I’ve been coming here for over a year now since it’s close to Silberman. Wow, I’ve never had a more perfect and lovingly handfolded tamal. And the man at the register is always so kind and nice. Let me explain these tamales… they’re so expertly folded they don’t need a string to tie it. It’s a real craft! Never a lick of masa out of place spilling out. Never dry or crumbly or too soft.
I could eat these every day. I like to buy a few at a time to take home for dinner too. Rajas and pollo verde are my favorites, the verde can sell out fast if you come in the late afternoon/evening. Also they’re even better freshly steamed the earlier you go. I’ve had the oaxaquena and it was amazing too. Rojo, mole, I’ve had it all. Do yourself a favor and come here, once you try it you’ll never want to eat another tamal. I tell everyone I know to come here.
Thank you Ms. Lupita whomever you are, you are so special to me ❤️

I haven’t been here in years.
I was hoping it was still open.
The family that works here is amazing as the food. You can taste the love, care and soul they put into it. I’m just worried if they get famous I’ll be stuck in line for hours just to enjoy their great delicious food. 😋
Can’t wait for the opportunity to come back there.

All I wanted for Christmas was tamales and champurrado. Found this spot and got exactly what I wanted. Every type of tamale they make is great! Asked the guy working if he knew of a good panaderia and he directed to me to a spot around the corner to get some pan dulce. Highly recommend!

The best tamales in the neighborhood and our breakfast every Sunday??
I was craving me some tamales cause I've haven't had it in so long. So I ended up looking for tamale stores near me. Tamale Lupita was the first store I tried and out of the rest I've not even gone to because I became obsessed with their tamales. I first started off with 2 to getting more. I ended up going there everyday after school. They're tamales is amazing and I would totally recommend. Even my sister like it and she kept asking me to go get more.

Bomb tamales for $2?
Grew up in Montana with tamales made by my mom and her sisters every Christmas. Tamales Lupita are the only tamales in New York that my mom will eat for Christmas dinner. They are the most perfect food you can eat.
They are very rich green tamales. slices with cheese Oaxacacans...
Very rich tamales
Very good seasoning, the size is ideal, although a little extra meat would not be a bad thing, but the tamales are incredible! ?
