Great food and terrific location for evenings in Tribeca. It was a busy night at Tamarind and our wait staff had a little difficulty keeping up. We had to ask for a few things (such as our sparkling water) twice. My wine arrived with an unknown brown substance on the glass stem, so I asked that it be cleaned off. A good 15 minutes passed before my glass of wine reappeared (required asking about its whereabouts). We remember previous visits feeling more luxurious and attentive - but not this past Saturday when it felt chaotic and stressed.
I have been going to Tamarind for 20+ years. They have maintained outstanding quality over the years. My favorite restaurant in NYC! Everything is delicious! Although I go mostly for dinner, the executive lunch is the best value in town.
I absolutely found Tamarind to be magnificent in every facet from the beginning until the very end Beautiful decor and decadent food that was fresh and pouring out incredible flavors in every bite
Tamarind is a lovely Tribeca spot that iffers not only great food, but superb service and a lovely & lovely atmosphere.
Everything was absolutely great. The people that attended to us were so nice and helpful. The service was amazing and the food was spectacular!
I am so excited about this restaurant being in Birmingham. The food was great and definitely fills my taste buds with Mediterranean/Middle Eastern flavors. Can't wait to go back!
Food and service was excellent! I'd suggest the halibut. Not overly cooked and just the right amount of sauce.
Omg, love this place! You never fail to produce such delicious food! Thank you for the years of consistently outstanding food!
Always reliable and outstanding on every front. Food and service and ambience are always consistent and of the highest quality.
I recently had a disappointing and shocking experience with Tamarind. Despite making my reservation days in advance and clearly noting that we would be bringing our 1-year-old child, I received a call just hours before our scheduled time informing me that they have a strict ‘no child policy.’ Not only was the timing of this cancellation extremely inconvenient, but the staff member (Sumit) offered no genuine explanation or apology. When I questioned why they wouldn’t allow our one-year-old—who can’t even walk yet—to dine with us, Sumit simply repeated that this had ‘been their policy for years,’ citing past noise and running-around incidents. My attempt to reassure him that we would step outside if our daughter made any noise fell on deaf ears. He wasn’t interested in hearing our concerns or offering any solution. The vibe was essentially, ‘Too bad, we can’t help you,’ with zero empathy for the inconvenience they caused. This kind of dismissive, unhelpful attitude goes beyond a disagreement about children in restaurants. Even if you don’t have kids, it’s worth knowing how poorly Tamarind treats its paying customers. Their inability to accommodate reasonable requests—or even show basic courtesy—shows a troubling lack of respect for their clientele. I strongly suggest choosing a different Indian restaurant that values all of its guests and knows how to handle scheduling or special requests in a professional, empathetic manner.

A long-time favorite. Great food, great service, and a classy vibe without being stuffy. Wonderful!
Absolutely exceptional experience as always. Food is beyond special, fresh and completely inventive yet stellar classics and phenomenal service. The service is best ever. Desserts and naan and lobster are my personal favorite. Cocktails excellent. Best time cannot wait to return.
Food was decent, nothing extra ordinary. Prices are pretty high for the quality of food. Veg Jalfrezzi was too bland and was not worth it. Everything else was decent. This place didn't meet my expectation, was expecting more authentic Indian dishes from real India.
Dietary restrictions: They did ask us about any dietary restrictions or allergies. That's a positive!

If you come here, it’s for the ambiance: an expansive and upscale space in a charming neighborhood. Service is gauche and the food is mixed. We tried the following standbys:
Chicken Tikka Masala - meh. Good sauce, but the chicken was dry and rubbery.
Saag Paneer - sophisticated and $6 cheaper than the chicken. I’d recommend this if you’re deciding between the two.
Steamed Basmati Rice - fine, but lame (and insulting, at $8) that it needs to be ordered separately.
Garlic Naan - great. Buttery and chewy. Too light on garlic, but this item was my favorite, and it’s even somewhat reasonably priced!
Gulab Jamun - bland and too soft. The side of ice cream looked and tasted out of place.

Food was not great, tastes like below average take out quality for triple the price, and service is weird. The fancy vibe feels very forced
