This is the third time we’ve been to this location and it never fails to amaze. We were able to bring a group over with us this time and they were in awe with the dishes, the decorations, and the restaurant as a whole. Is the second time we’ve had Michael serve us and he’s indeed a guarantee of above and beyond service. We’ll make sure he continues to be our server next time we make a reservation.
Went for a corporate party. They ran out of most liquor half way through and had no structure for the food lines. Assuming the venue is more enjoyable for a normal night out

Very fun dining experience with a lot of photo opps and buzzing music. Definitely worth the money based on how much food you are getting (family style meals). Only issue was we got our table 30 minutes after the reservation time.

DISGUSTING SERVICE!! I didn’t think that I would face racism at an establishment like this, but that’s exactly what happened. The waiter was the most rude and racist person I have come across. Didn’t acknowledge our presence, didn’t even talk to us throughout the service, just forgot our order, and was racist towards us and I do not say this lightly. We literally observed how he was behaving with the rest of the tables and how he was behaving with us.

Let me get straight to the point, the waiter was RACIST, there is no other way to put it. He was RACIST and rude, did not even do the basic job of pouring water for us. First he forgot our desert order, then he proceeds to give us a cold shoulder and not even acknowledge our presence. For your own peace of mind and if you do not want to face racism, please do not visit this location. Most pathetic restaurant experience.

Although a reservation was made a month in advance there was still a wait time for seating as the place was extremely busy. I cannot begin to tell you how much I enjoyed having dinner here! The food was a solid 10 out of 10! So damn good Definitely recommend coming here.

Complaint: Disappointing Experience at Tao Downtown, NY
We recently visited Tao near Chelsea Market to celebrate a friend’s birthday, driving nearly two hours to be there. Despite making two separate reservations (5:45 PM and 6:00 PM) to accommodate our group, the experience was nothing short of disastrous.
When we arrived by 6:00 PM, Tao’s staff mismanaged the reservations, seating half of our group under the 6:00 PM slot and penalizing the other half by claiming we were “late” for the 5:45 PM reservation. We were told we’d have to vacate by 8:15 PM—despite being on time. When we pointed out their error, the manager, Reina Mori, was shockingly rude, arguing with us for 20 minutes and arbitrarily reducing our table time further. She even made a discriminatory remark: “I don’t think you guys can finish your meal by 7:45 PM, so maybe we shouldn’t give you a table.” Such behavior was deeply offensive and unprofessional.
Ultimately, we were seated by 6:25 PM, but the service was slow, with food arriving only by 6:40 PM. At 7:40 PM, we were rushed again, told to leave the table within 5 minutes, and informed that desserts could only be served in the lounge area.
This experience was nothing short of appalling. Reina Mori’s rudeness, unprofessional conduct, and dismissive attitude ruined what was supposed to be a special celebration. Discrimination and arrogance have no place in hospitality. Tao’s management should reflect on how such treatment drives loyal customers away. We will not be returning and urge others to think twice before dining here.
