The best char sui baos and amazing pineapple, yes pineapple char sui baos in NYC. Great friendly staff, too

This is a mandatory stop when in this neighborhood. The Roasted Pork Buns are legendary...

Please do yourself a favor and stop by for moon cakes! She does the best I’ve ever had, I always come back here whenever I visit NYC. Black sesame and red bean are my favorites. She offers a different kind of bubble tea as well - if you like the classic flavors, look no further, skip the big chains and support a local store, you won’t regret it 🫶🏻

My favorite pork buns in town. Nothing fancy. Just a really good and cheap Chinatown bakery.

Walking into Tao Hong, you realize this isn’t just a bakery it’s a time capsule. A little fluorescent-lit shrine to Cantonese comfort, tucked right into Chinatown’s beating heart. The kind of place where the glass display cases do all the talking: golden egg tarts glistening like jewels, pineapple buns stacked in neat little rows, sesame balls that crunch just enough before giving way to that sweet red bean center. It’s not fancy. Hell, it’s not even trying to be. No reclaimed wood tables, no latte art, no ironic neon signs. Just trays of pastries wrapped in cellophane and aunties behind the counter moving faster than you can point. You walk out with a bag heavier than you intended, still under ten bucks, and suddenly the world feels lighter. This is what New York is all about old traditions baked fresh every morning, feeding anyone smart enough to wander in. Tao Hong doesn’t need to reinvent itself. It’s already perfect.

Fantastic bao, moon cakes, dahn taht... what a treasure. The staff is kind and friendly, can't recommend enough. Walk past the silly long Tik Tok line in front of Wah Fung and get your fix at this gem.

Their pork buns are amazing 🤩. The staff is also helpful if you are indecisive and pleasant. It’s a small space, but the food will make up for the space.

One of the best egg tart crusts around and the custard is filling has a nice jiggly not too firm texture like most of the competitors. Just wish it were a little sweeter. Exceptionally nice staff.

This is my second (and third) time visiting and it will always be a staple of my visits moving forward. Everything here is so good. The highlights for us were the moon cakes, the mango mochi roll, and of course, their soft and flaky egg tarts. I still dream about those egg tarts. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Found myself craving egg tarts today and my partner suggested Tao Hong after a quick google search, and I’m so glad we went! Lives perfectly up to the hype; egg tarts are flaky, soft, not too sweet and totally delicious. Plus, the ladies working were incredibly kind! I asked for vegan options for my partner, and they were so eager to help (although we ultimately weren’t able to find any, so vegan friends take note!)

We’ll definitely be back!

A takeout Cantonese pastry shop offering a wide variety of treats. The egg tarts are perfectly flaky with a smooth custard filling at a great price ($1.5 as of Sept 2024).
