New location is 554 west 158 st, a two minute walk away.Friendly service is the best part. Delicious pastries and food such as assorted quiches. The new location has much more room but maintains the original vibe in a lovely way.

Taszo is an absolute gem in the neighborhood, a respite with a bohemian, and eclectic vibe.First, let's state the obvious: they don't have wifi in the cafe and have limited laptop use during the day (you are allowed to to use a laptop, but only during the weekdays and with certain hours). So, if you're looking for a cafe to work at with wifi for hours on end, this is not a place for you. Sure, you could say this affects their business, but that's the cafe's business decision, and it certainly does not affect the business I give them! But, if you're looking for a place to unplug, enjoy your coffee, tea or pastry, read, write, or have a conversation, this is a perfect spot, and for this very reason, I LOVE it.They offer coffee, espresso drinks, tea, and a small selection of pastries (no wine even though the website and signage outside says so). I am more of a tea drinker and favor the iced hibiscus tea.The music is usually mid-tempo and eclectic, and the volume is never too loud.I had been living in the neighborhood for a while and had been in here once or twice but what caught my eye again was the new sushi that was being served inside the cafe (MON - SAT 3-9, as of this review's posted date). I love sushi, so of course had to try it out! The sushi is prepared by Asa and the limited menu offers fresh rolls, sashimi, or donburi bowls. I have returned for sushi 4 times in the last month! The ingredients are fresh, the price is right, and it feels homemade, in the best way. I will make my way through the menu, but I have since tried the Cali-Kani, Avocado, and Salmon Avocado rolls and the donburi bowls. I enjoyed everything I had!The cafe has a unique character, is cozy, and the staff are friendly. If you prefer wifi and a chain cafe, head next door, but if you want to have some true relaxation, in a unique space, take in the vibes at Taszo, and tip your servers well. I look forward to being a patron for many years!Edit: they no longer serve sushi

They’re always messing up my food, I just tried to get a chai and on my way home took a sip and guess what? It’s coffee. Also saw a roach in there crawling on the wall near the pastries. Hipster atmosphere and one of the few shops in the area is probably what keeps this place running esp. because only white people seem to get good service there.Edit: Updating my 2-star to 1-star. As you can see by the reply below, the owner NEVER takes any accountability and is rude to customers who have CONSISTENT bad experiences. He’s calling me a liar because I saw a ROACH IN THE ESTABLISHMENT. Instead of apologizing for poor hygiene or the disturbing experience (which it was). If it was just a one-time mistake I’d never post a bad review. I posted this review because every other time I go here my or my mother’s drink is wrong — that’s called bad training of staff. I posted this review because I overpaid for wrong food and because the store doesn’t have a real phone number, there’s no way for anyone currently working to be accountable after the fact. I don’t want to have to text the owner’s personal cell in order to get a simple refund, but that is the only way to contact the store without being there. All of this on top of literally observing a huge roach crawling near the food area = overall BAD experience, hope the owner can learn some self accountability one day.

Taszo has been MY go-to spot for coffee, pastries, and reading material since it opened. It's a cute local coffee shop in the Audobon Terrace area of Washington Heights. When you walk into Taszo Coffee Shop, you are always greeted with a smile, whether it be your first time or your hundredth. It is a cozy place with excellent coffee and pastries. The location is beautiful and a convenient place for meetings, working or simply chatting with friends over coffee.

Kid-friendliness: My kids love Taszo. They are always welcome and they love the hot chocolate and pastries. They told me they would give the hot chocolate 1000 stars in this Google review!

Great compact little atmosphere. Mocha was the richest I’ve ever had. Apple cinnamon croissant was pretty tasty as well. Definitely recommend this place to try out.

College students welcome! The music selection is very calming and it’s not too loud. You are able to get work done here without getting distracted. The latte?! Perfect. I got the hazelnut option as a flavor. So happy I found this spot.

A radiant atmosphere and beautiful place to think, read, work, and have great coffee. If you need a break, a place to read, a moment to process life or simply enjoy the view, this is the place for you. This coffee shop is intimate and soothing and the music isn't overwhelming. I will be back...again and again. Thank you.

this is one of my favorite regular spots, I so appreciate going here both to meet friends and to occasionally read and work. Their black coffee is really nice, the staff are super chill. I also appreciate their laptop policy (laptops allowed, but on weekdays and in certain seats only), I think it helps maintain a good vibe in the shop, and I appreciate that they are upfront about their rules.

Excellent cappuccino. Together with an apricot Danish. Delicious. Nice vibe with edgy but not too edgy music. ?

The sushi here is amazing!!! Great coffee and pastries, even sandwiches. Pretty much everything here is upscale. It’s the best place in the entire WaHi area to come to relax and talk or just chill. It’s a quirky stylish low-key vibe here. Love it!
