Overall this food is really good and the atmosphere was wonderful! The only knock is that the service could be better; for example, I’m pretty sure my wife and I either received our rolls in different orders or got different roles altogether even though we ordered the same set menu. Granted I could this staff was new because there were people training them. Regardless it didn’t deter us from our experience. The crispy rice yellowtail and the salmon with citrus yuzu was our favorite!

Walked in on a Saturday night without a reservation and we were sat right away. I was with one other person and we each ordered a crispy rice and a set of hand rolls.
The positives: the crispy rice was great - super fresh and well seasoned.
This is where the positives end. I eat a decent amount of sushi and hand rolls and the rice always matters - the rice here was inedible, it was truly almost a paste with a terrible texture and flavor. After the second hand roll (where the person I was with still hadn't received any??) we told our waitress very nicely that the rice was overcooked - she told us that just sometimes happens which is a pretty crazy response. I actually couldn't eat the rice and just ate the fish (which again, was totally fine) out of the hand roll but very evidently left all of the rice and seaweed on my plate.
At the end of the meal I was given the device to pay on and it prompted me with an 18, 20 or 22% tip. I was VERY confused because the menu states that the tip is included in the price of the food (similar to kazu nori or sugarfish which are no tip establishments). At no point did the waitress mention that tip was already included and this would be additional, however it was in fine print on the menu given to us. I felt awkward and left an additional 18% tip which made the total bill come out to over $150 for 2 people while all the food was still clearly uneaten on my plate.
To finish it off, the sushi chef came over to us after we paid and apologized for the rice, which he acknowledged was bad!!! Why on earth would you continue to serve rice which you yourself noticed wasn't up to the restaurants standards. I couldn't believe he served food that he knew was not up to the standard, admitted that to a paying customer, and not a single person there tried to right the situation by either offering to remake the food with new rice or comping the inedible rolls. Bummer because I could see how this place could be tasty but I will definitely not be back

One of the best sushi spots I’ve been to in New York! The fish was incredibly fresh, and every piece was perfectly prepared. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxing, with a nice balance between traditional and modern vibes. Our server made sure we had everything we needed and gave great recommendations. He gave us one of the best sake we had which is Soto and I really enjoyed it with my hand roll. I’ll be coming back again to enjoy it.

Idk if we came on a VERY off night or what, but service was comically bad. Like, truly the worst service we’ve ever experienced in NYC. Not that anyone was outright rude, there was just a general sense that absolutely no one we interacted with knew what was going on lol.
To start off strong, there were flies all over. At least 5-6 big huge flies flying around.
Then our waiter had no idea about any of the sakes on the menu, couldn’t tell us if they were unfiltered or not (there are only 3 on the whole menu😅)
No one checked up on us for nearly 15 mins upon being seated to offer us water or drinks
No one let us know our handroll course was done, we sat aimlessly for what felt like 30 minutes before flagging someone down to ask ourselves. When the woman making our rolls finally came over, she was bizarrely standoffish when she told us our course was over
They forgot to give me one of the four hand rolls in my course
The whole experience was hilariously bad. Only reason I’m giving 3 stars is because the food itself is bomb. The kitchen knows what they’re doing, but no one in the front of house does.

Good handrolls. I got the salmon crispy rice, which I requested for them to make non-spicy.

Super nice staff and the rolls have fun flavors and a fresh concept. A good alternative when Sugarfish is too crowded

Sushi quality is slightly above a cheap takeout sushi place, at best. You might get a bit of ambiance and better service but there’s no mistaking the quality. Much better options in the east village

this food is so nasty??? theres like a pinch of fish in the rolls, like 4 probably equal a normal roll. the rice is rubbery and stale. seaweed is like waxy and sticky. theres the reason why they drown everything in spicy mayo.

Ask your server if they get to keep their tips (spoiler: they don’t)

The key is to go at lunchtime during a weekday. It pretty empty and relaxed. The service was friendly and the sushi was fresh. I loved the toro, blue crab, and scallop rolls. The salmon roll fell flat for me, but the crunchy rice salmon was good. I would come back!
