Had a nice experience when I visited with my boyfriend the first two times with the morning shift staff members one of them currently don’t work there anymore so they replaced her with another woman which made a very inappropriate comment on how much she got tipped. We got very harsh looks from some of the workers after and we felt that the environment became very hostile after she made the inappropriate comment. We have been there and tipped other waiters more than the minimum for doing what they were supposed to do. She did less than what her job was and there were multiple people taking care of us not just her so to ask us to adjust our tip for you because you didn’t like the percentage is crazy! Very racist, because we were the only ones treated that way today !

Friend and I caught the tail end of happy hour on a Thursday. Our waitress was fantastic and helped tremendously with wine selection. We gave her a few flavor profiles we were both interested in and she came back with two amazing options. We ended up splitting a bottle. Unfortunately I cannot remember what it was, but it was delicious and I don’t have a hangover :).
We also split the steak tartare and this was some of the best I’ve had!!! I wanted to order 5 more plates.
Such a good spot for a chill night with good eats and drinks. Would love to come in and read a book for a few hours here or come do a wine tasting event.

This is such a cute wine bar. It’s one of my favorite places to come and hangout if we have extra time in the West Village. They have such an amazing selection of wines from all over the world. Temperance was one of the few places that carried multiple types of Orange wine before it became popular. They are also able to do wine flights.
I also love their snacks. They compliment the wine so well and they have a lot of variety for vegetarians.
The ambiance here is also casual elegance which is perfect. They also have seating outside which is so nice especially during a summer afternoon.

It was our first time here. We took one of the wine classes and it was so wonderful! Ann is an amazing teacher—so fun and informative. We learned more in our hour and a half here than on any of the wine tours we’ve done. We can’t wait to take more classes!

Temperance looks like what people in the 70’s thought the future would look like. The space is very retro-futuristic, and creates a very interesting ambiance. I’m not sure if agree with the space or the vibe but I will say; the atmosphere is a great ice breaker, and before you know it it’s been three hours and you forget what day it is. I get dizzy after two bottles of scotch. The biggest advantage that temperance has is its walk in availability, you can actually get a table inside, rare for a west village wine bar.

It would take a long time to drink through the enormous by the glass list here. Every time I’ve been here I left with a new favorite wine.

Loved this place! Very few places get 5 stars from me (:)). I was in the area and walked into this place for a glass of wine. Little did I know I would end up staying for a couple of hours to eat as well. Their food selection is limited but I loved everything I ordered. The salad is great, wines are unique and the ambience is perfect for a date night or a fun “me time”. The staff is friendly and warm. No complaints!
