This place is great. John Peacock is an amazing bartender. Great drinks, and he hooked us up with pizza from a place across the street that was incredible!

The Boiler Room—A Whole New Scene (But Not in a Good Way)
Boy, has the Boiler Room changed since the days I used to come here. It’s been revamped, sure—but with that, the gritty charm and neighborhood vibe are long gone.
The service is slow, and it no longer feels like the familiar, homey dive bar it once was. Now it seems geared more toward out-of-towners and the broader crowd it’s trying to attract—but it misses the mark.
It’s not bad, just not the same.

Low key bar, cash only. Pretty good amount of space for a Saturday night. Service was attentive and friendly enough. Good option if you're looking for something low-key and are already in the area.

Cash only!! They have an ATM. The bartender was very welcoming and since we were waiting around for a movie, shared some stories about the neighborhood with us, in addition to generally good conversation.

The Boiler Room in NYC's East Village is a long-standing, no-frills gay dive bar with a loyal local following. Known for its cheap drinks (well drinks from $4-$5, $5 Bud Light/Coors Light pints) and a fantastic jukebox, it offers a casual, unpretentious atmosphere. Expect a mixed crowd and a pool table. Happy hour specials are available. It's cash-only with an ATM on site.

I have enjoyed this place for years
I’ve never had worse service in my life.
A friend and I walked in and within 3 minutes a bartender (didn’t get his name, but worked the 11pm-12am shift) was at our necks demanding we buy a drink. He then gave us tons of attitude when we asked about pricing. We didn’t tip because of his rude attitude and he came up to us and argued. Genuinely never met more entitled people. This is the kind of entitlement you can’t allow in a service-based industry. Truly disgusting behavior.
(For the record, no one was bargaining for lower prices, we just asked for what the prices were. And, we did bring cash, we paid for the shots full price. Your bartenders make up lies about the clientele while clearly intoxicated)

My favorite bar in NYC! Great people. The place where everyone knows your name. Alek is a fantastic bartender.

Drinks are cheap, but only because they are watered down and small. Music way too loud for how empty the place was. Bar and bathroom is dirty and bartenders are rude.

Old bartender berated friends. Made everyone feel unwelcome-not the type they focus on? A lot to deal with for a dump. Skip.
History doesn’t mean class<~
Would have been happy to buy everyone in the bar a drink. (Ended up spending $$$ at another joint)-how about talking not screaming?

Wait beers are $9 now!? That means they’ve more than doubled in the last year. Also a lot of these reviews seem to be about the old location…
