It's a convenient place to meet and have a light bite and a few drinks, but be careful with the bill. The staff like to ring up the more costly of drinks. I ordered the House Wine, and they switched up after a few rounds in. I started paying $9 a glass, and in the end, it cost me $13 each. The most annoying thing is the way the bill comes. If I am drinking the same wine you figure the cost be the same for each glass. My guess is it's common practice to jack up somebody who's having a good time with friends. I blame myself for not fully reviewing the bill. In either case, I will avoid this place going forward. The food and service were nothing stellar that motivated me to visit again.

Came here for a birthday party and it was an intimate spot in Chelsea located on 8th. Seems like you can rent out the entire spot for events. Drinks are pretty standard NY prices, ~$16 post tax per drink. Tequila sunrise wasn't bad

Nicely laid out bar. Was a bit quiet when we were there, but upmarket place.

I want to share with you this disturbing and unpleasant experience last night at Chelsea Bell. I arrived 10:30pm with one beer in my belly. The bar was already noisy and somewhat busy, and Jim, the short bearded bartender manager who was as usual busy busy behind the bar, struggling to keep up, although at that moment, there was room. Me and the guy next to me sidled up, Jim was right there asking orders, so I asked for whatever cider I saw on tap, which he yelled in response they were out of, so I switched to Allegash and dropped my card on the bar. Jim yelled something at me, something about 'don't leave your card on the bar like that', which seemed strange. I asked: had been walking, getting stolen. He yelled pungently something inaudible. He served the beer, snatched my card and gave me a vehement look as he berated me inaudibly for what I had no idea. I took the beer and card, and left to sit with the low brass members of my orchestra: we rehearse and performed that night nearby, and visit the place every couple of months. I've encountered Jim on at least several occasions. ~12:15am I returned to the bar and asked Jim for a glass of water, who launched into a show of berating me: he's only going to deal with me if I'm civil and polite now. I was taken aback: I had no clue what he was talking about. He accused me of throwing my card at him! I was shocked by his vehemence, and had no clue where this drama was coming from. I said I recalled dropping the card on the bar, with a max flight of perhaps 3 inches, with no ill will intended, or shown. He begrudgingly gave me a glass of water, yet stomped off in his smoldering insult, saying Well, just think about what that said about me. I left a couple bucks tip in a confused funk, took my tuba home, wondering: what did it say about me? I never even got tipsy, wasn't acting out, wasn't intending to or was rude in any way I could see, and was now getting chewed out by the bartender of a place I come a few times a year with several dozen friends, and always struggle with issues of slow and occasionally querulous service. At home it occurred to me: Jim never presented a bill or allowed me to tip him. I belatedly checked my bank account: a Chelsea Bell charge of $50 for one beer! I hopped the subway, straight back to sort this out, arriving at 2:30am. 8 people in the place, Jim still avoided me, and when I apologetically asked to speak with him for a minute to apologize, he again chewed me out with an even more histrionic denunciation. I realized: he's at least a bit drunk, maybe more. I'd had two beers the entire evening, the last at 10:30-11pm, but Jim was flying. I explained clearly (and audibly, with less noise) my perception of the card drop which he described as a gesture of defiance in his face, but that was merely the insult on top my preceding offense, yelling demands at him, etc. He denounced me in a rolling rant, bending over and grabbing his head and rolling it in his hands. Clearly I was now part of Jim's drama. I infrequently drink, with a max of 2-3 beers. And am generally known as a low key, considerate, friendly guy who likes to make people smile. I explained to Jim that my recollection included none of what he described, and reiterated my perception -- it was loud, busy, but he was right in front of me and seeking orders at the time I thought from me. And, if my card drop seemed more of a toss or less smooth than I thought, since I became partially blind in my left eye this last year due to complications of COVID, I can sometimes be a little clumsy. But not a rude jerk. I reminded him I'm part of the orchestra, and we're there every few months for the past few years -- I was in a tux! He said he knew. He finally checked me out and allowed me to give him a 70% tip in all and when I asked if we were good, he begrudgingly accepted. He'd chalk it up to a misunderstanding. I didn't get home until 4am, but knew if I left it stand longer, I'd end up being charged $50 for one beer (or worse

Attended a Christmas party here and had a great time. The DJ was so on fire. The vibe was positive fun and very enjoyable. The staff were professional and friendly with smiles. The view around C Bell is also super gorgeous at night. I'd definitely return and walk around more after some great food and drinks. I had a Whiskey lemonade for the first time. It was to my surprise very smooth. Bartenders did a great job serving the drinks to the party members. All the staff was helpful and cool. Thanks for a positive vibe experience! See you soon!
