Was having late night chinese cravings and found this place to be open in the area. Ordered the standard general tso chicken over fried rice with wonton soup. The hip cashier in the front desk is very nice and accommodating. Took my order right away and passed it back to the kitchen. The food was ready in less than 10 minutes. Being the first time here, the food was amazing. Definitely one of the best tasting Chinese take out places in the area. The price are not bad either for NYC, very reasonable and great for the portion size. Will likely become a regular of this place and add it to my list of comfort food for late nights or lunches.

Friendly, helpful staff. Open kind of late for Chinese food in the area!!

This place is a little hole in the wall. They have a couple tables inside but it really is for pick-up. We ordered shrimp with vegetables and chicken with vegetables.Glad we were able to find it. The food was amazing and fresh. Highly recommend it. Wish we were able to go to it again but didn't have time. Go check them out.

I order from here all the time- and if you notice, people below with 3 stars or less say they order from here over 2x a week! That says something. The prices on seamless are roughly 35% higher than in the store so go in if you can. The food is really good, but because they price gouge on seamless I typically only order during a coupon or get a lunch special/combination plate. Great food if you get a deal.

I live nearby, and had never walked into this run-down place. Wish I had sooner!!!! I just had the best, freshest, wonton soup in the city! The wontons themselves were out of this world...firm, not too doughy and delicious filling. The soup was not too bland and not too salty...excellent!

I have been ordering from here since it opened, two or three times a week. Food is quite good, best fried rice around, though the lo main always has a very unpleasant faint smell of cigarettes. However, they have raised their prices AGAIN to outrageous levels unbefitting a hole in the wall place like this. 12 bucks for fried rice??? When other places around here charge more like 8? No. Just no. I will be cutting down buying from them, majorly. Way too expensive. If I wanted to pay like that I would go to Tim Ho Wan. Too bad, China Star.

No frills Americanized Chinese fare. The General Tso's chicken is pretty good. So is the hot and sour soup, but it could be a bit hotter. I liked it! It is not as cheap as it should be, but for the East Village it's okay.

The staff are friendly, but the food is way overpriced and not all that fresh, either, to be honest. I'm not going back here and I honestly don't recommend this place to others. You can find plenty of other Chinese restaurants at half the price (for certain items) for better quality. Also, the place itself is dirty.

Excellent Chinese food. I always go for the chicken and broccol (garlic sauce, not spicy) or the sesame chicken.

Rude service.

I waited an hour and a half for my food, all for it to be leaking when I get it. Napkins and paper bag ruined, big mess for me to clean up. After all this, I was hopeful the food would be good. It wasn't. Extremely disappointed that I waited this long and paid this much! Last time ordering from here!

Service was satisfying (just a hip, attentive cashier guy) but gosh golly darn the food was terrible. Their lunch deal is $1 cheaper than that of Hui Fu (a few blocks away) but the difference is oceans deep and wide. The space stunk of dirty kitchen and so did the plastic utensils which was unappetizing. Classic "Chinese food" that has been so Americanized that its basically just grease and turmoil materialized into edible form. My friend and I split the General Tso's chicken and Pepper Beef, and I felt like I just ate rocks -- my tum was sad. Perhaps we should just try other dishes, but I'm not sure there will be a next time.
