Too noisy. My husband's drink did not arrive even though the other drinks had arrived. He had to ask twice. When the meals arrived, my husband's meal did not, and he had to ask. Not sure what was going on. In addition, the noise level was high and it was hard to hear my friends.
The food was very good. It was a quiet night but it could get noisy. Service was excellent.
The staff was outstanding. We celebrated an 80th birthday and they made sure the five octogenarians in the party were well attended to. They adapted quickly to a couple of last minute requests without missing a step. This is a great place to to have a small party (10 for us). The food was excellent and timely. I will definitely go back to the Consulate UWS the next time I am in town.
Very ordinary meal. Everything was highly seasoned with butter and salt, so very tasty, but not great cooking. The maitake mushrooms were inexplicably battered and deep fried. If you closed your eyes you would have no idea what you were eating. Very attentive service and nice atmosphere. We won't be back.
The Consulate on the Upper West Side is a gem of a French restaurant that effortlessly combines elegance, warmth, and exceptional cuisine. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance sets the tone, chic, refined, and perfect for anything from a romantic dinner to a stylish brunch with friends. The food is nothing short of excellent. Each dish is beautifully presented and full of flavor, staying true to French tradition while adding a modern touch. The menu offers a thoughtful selection, and every bite reflects the quality of ingredients and attention to detail. Service is just as impressive, attentive without being overbearing, and always professional. The staff clearly take pride in making guests feel welcomed and well cared for. Whether you're a local or visiting the city, The Consulate is a must visit for anyone looking to enjoy an elevated dining experience in one of New York's most iconic neighborhoods. Highly recommended!
I had a fantastic meal at The Consulate! The steak frites were perfectly cooked, and the peppercorn sauce was absolutely delicious. The fries were crisp and golden, just the way they should be. I paired it with the “3 Shades of Green” cocktail, which was simply sublime. We also shared a Caesar salad that was so fresh and crisp—it was one of the best I've had in a long time. Special thanks to Costa, our server, who was professional, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Overall, a truly wonderful dining experience!
On a serene Monday evening, The Consulate proved itself as more than just a restaurant — it was an experience. The elegant interior, anchored by an enormous mirror and a beautifully designed bar, set a refined tone. Live jazz filled the room, while special caviar and wine menu lent an air of indulgence. With ambiance, music, and flavor in perfect harmony, The Consulate delivered an evening both stylish and memorable.
A wonderful neighborhood spot with consistently good service and fantastic food. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the addition of live jazz on Mondays makes it even more special. Perfect for a relaxing evening out!
I had an amazing dining experience at The Consulate! I stopped by on a Monday night and they had live Jazz music. The service and food were incredible—can't wait to visit again.
