Very quiet - terrific for having a conversation. Service was good. We were there for dinner annd had mixed results on the food: chicken and veggies - veggies were cold, chicken dry; mushroom tart - very good; salmon - tasty but portion was quite small; Mexican salad - ok.
Waitress was not hospitable, but our server was great. We had the crabcakes and shared them, which were good, but the salmon was excellent. Unfortunately, it was raining. I was also disappointed that my request for a window seat was not granted when during the time we were there, nobody came to sit at the window as we were told they would.
The Met Dining Room, usually, is one of my favorite spaces in NYC. I have often visited and often introduced friends to the MDR. Last night was different. We arrived on time for our 7PM reservation. The food was marvelous, and the service was terrible. Our actual waitperson was fine, polite and helpful but the people-two, I think-who brought and removed courses were intrusive and we were rushed. One of these workers was aggressive, removing food we were still eating and then loudly proclaiming, "We're closing." It was stressful. I apologized to the friends I'd brought for their first MDT experience.
The customer service was great and the staff was friendly. However, the meal was very poorly done. I had ordered the burger and asked for it well done since I don't like any red in the middle. Got the burger and I cut it in half and the meat was not cooked. It was very raw and called the waiter to have it redone. They quickly took the order and gave me another burger that was cooked. They were polite and apologized for the inconvenience.
Great place for a nice, quiet lunch. Excellent food . David is a first class server , who made great suggestions about the menu. This dining room is must visit while you are in NYC
The dining room is a lovely break from the crowds in the galleries. The service is always impeccable and the staff genuinely seem happy to work there. I wish the menu had a little more variety but everything is well prepared and tasty. Please save room for dessert. You won't regret it.
This is a restful, enjoyable venue at the Museum One of us chose two appetizers--mushroom tart and small shrimp appetizer, and the other had the chicken. The appetizers were delicious and plentiful, the chicken a bit dry and disappointing.

A delightful lunch with a fabulous view of Cleopatra's Needle in Central Park. Relatively short menu of imaginative well crafted dishes. An excellent wine list featuring some first class wines from the US and the rest of the world. Great friendly service.
Our server was great, would have given service 5 stars but the kitchen seemed to have an issue keeping track of our order. But it was nice food and wine in a very convenient location for the galleries. We will do it again next time.
Great place in every way.
The food is really good, the ambience beautiful and the service is stellar.
Definitely going back!

It's always a treat to have dinner in the museum. We got there as the sun was setting and had cool views of the clouds and then settled in for a nice dinner. Everything was well prepared and our server was helpful in pairing wines with our entrees. The entree portions were on the small side but were beautifully prepared and presented.
Dining in the museum felt really special, with the greenery of Central Park right outside the window, which was a feast for the eyes. The spacing between tables was generous, giving everyone plenty of privacy. However, there were some issues with the food. We ordered fries, and they seemed to have been re-fried, making them very greasy. The salmon was good, and the bread before the meal was also decent. The staff were friendly and patient. Overall, it was a nice experience, but I wouldn’t recommend ordering the fries.
