Had drinks at the Gold Bar last night while staying at the Lotte Palace Hotel. The bartenders were lovely and engaging. The space itself is stunning and just what you would expect with a name like “The Gold Bar.” I tried the Filthy Rich Martini ($50) as I had a credit at the hotel to use and can honestly tell you I did not perceive any difference between it and a regular martini with decent vodka. The ambiance is incredible. The historic nature of the decor and the feel is very luxury. The prices for very normal food....pretty crazy in my opinion, even for NY. Nothing wrong with the food just over-priced. The menu is pretty limited as well. GREAT location though.
The food was great. An elevated breakfast. The staff member waiting on me forgot the order I placed. Didn't get my sides, which was okay. I ensured I wasn't charged. The only down side was the hostesses. They were a bit standoffish. Otherwise, the wait staff were super friendly and cordial.
