Best neighborhood coffee shop on the UWS. Phil and his parents have worked hard to make this café a great place for locals and tourists to hang and it has been for decades upon decades. Don't let the long line deter you - have often times had great conversations with other patrons while waiting. Love how they're dog friendly (and sometimes even give our dog whipped cream). Stopped here on a cold Snowy Saturday afternoon to grab a Hot coffee and a desert before touring the Catherdral Church of Saint John the Devine across the street.
The place was crowded but had no problem getting seats.

I ordered a Hungarian coffee ☕️, which was an Americano with whipped cream and cinnamon with a cream puff pastry , also tried the Baklava.
The Hungarian pastry shop has a great vibe for an afternoon stop.

Take this review with a grain of salt as I'm married to a Hungarian, have been to Budapest numerous times, and have even made the Hungarian pastries myself that I'm about to write about. First, this place is great and had some awesome looking pastries.

What we got though were the few actual Hungarian style pastries. I say they were Hungarian "style", because they were not authentic. First, the "beigli" or poppyseed roll. ...
