Variations of things to do at the museum. A lot of varieties of French, Haitian and Germain exhibitions. The surrounding area also has many five stars rated restaurants.
This review is for afternoon tea at the Morgan Cafe and not for the main dining room in the house which requires separate reservations to access.
Had afternoon tea for two here yesterday (9/6/24) and wanted to get my thoughts down while they are fresh.
The location is a large atrium that is not very noisy and great for conversation without a booming echo. Staff was attentive and it never got too crowded during my time here on a late Friday afternoon.
Food presentation was good (see photos) with an assortment of sweet and savory treats. Side note, if you run out of clotted cream (which was very good), a refill is $2!
I found the scones a bit dense but others may like that.
I didn't think I would get full but I did and had a box for takeaway for the leftovers.
Decent selections of teas (in bags and not loose) and they will refill the pot with hot water as many times as requested.
Overall I enjoyed the experience and the price for tea for two ($54 as of Sept, 2024) was very reasonable. If you come on a Friday afternoon, try to stay until 5PM when Museum admission is free so that you can walk off all the food afterwards!

Definitely try the afternoon tea if you like dry sandwiches, stale food, cold tea and mediocre service

Friendly professional service fair prices would return for a light snack.
Came here with my mother for the second time and it was not a very pleasant experience. Quite unfriendly staff (he was a white man with bald hair). We came in for a late lunch, the waiter mentioned that the kitchen is closing soon so we ordered the dessert in advance. After the meal, the ice cream came out halfway melted and the bottom was all liquid. When I told the waiter, he said it is normal and their freezer is not cold enough, which isn’t true since I’ve had the same dessert before. His response was basically “take it or leave it”. He constantly stared at us giving signs to eat quick and leave, although we had no will to stay long in any case. We left before 4pm, and I also don’t understand why the opening time’s until 5pm on google. It was completely unnecessary for him to tap on the check and insist us to pay while my mother was not finished. Especially while the other waiter brought us the check 5 min before him and asked us to pay whenever we’re ready. I completely understand we get informed about the closing time in advance and leave in time but it doesn’t have to be such an uncomfortable experience.

Great staff and excellent service. The food was also delicious and reasonably priced as well. I would gladly recommend this place to friends and family that enjoy visiting museums, as well as recommend this place to tourists visiting the city looking for a pleasant activity with great food right there. 5/5 stars!
I frequent this outstanding restaurant once a month as I like the good air that is exist in this place. The personel is very loving and well trained. The service is very quick. Not to mention, the food they prepare is magnificent. I ate there many times and I was always pleased. The rate is decent. I highly suggest this restaurant to to all.

We forget that some of the best dining experiences are to be had in our museums. The Morgan Dining Room is one such venue, where the ambiance, the food, and service all come together to offer a positive dining experience. "Genteel" may be a word that today inspires disdain rather than respect, but for this visitor, it is refreshing to have a meal in a setting that is graceful and, well, genteel. Portraits of sitters from a bygone era grace the walls; the architecture and décor are beautiful and elegant; the table settings are tasteful. Most important is the food, which is beautifully prepared, balanced, and carefully presented. Service is polite. On my visit I enjoyed the chicken thighs with soppressata, olives, tomatoes, garlic, served over a cloud-like potato purée. It was absolutely glorious. You will pay a bit more at the Morgan Dining Room, even for lunch. But every bite is worth the price.
This restaurant is in the Morgan Museum. So ambiance is special and excellent. Starter salad was OK but uninspired. Main entree was "Maine Lobster." 30 bucks for OMG lobster. Or so I thought until it arrived at the table. A very small amount of lobster meat could be extracted from the body of this crustacean. The lobster tails usually a food source? Missing in action. The "lobster" came with a choice of sides. Mine was the fingerling potatoes. They were excellent. Coffee to end the meal. My OXO makes a far far better cup. Service was top notch. Even a specialist in peppering your salad etc. was at the ready. I enjoyed a stop at the adjacent hift shop.
All perfect except the waiter was a bit pushy with unsolicited recommendations and clearly annoyed when we didn't do what he had suggested. But the rest made up for it anyway!☺️
