A wonderful restaurant in a fantastic museum. The service is extremely friendly and answers all questions. The food is freshly prepared, aesthetically presented and tastes excellent. The chicken was wonderfully seasoned and the steak was cooked medium to perfection. We are very happy that we chose this restaurant and recommend it to all museum visitors.

I loved my last visit. I came when the butterflies exhibit was closed so the restaurant was less busy. The friendly staff treated me so well. I was greeted, sat and waited to almost immediately. Food was great and my tea refill was placed on my table before I finished my sip. Dessert was quick and beautiful. I will be coming again

The food was not that good: the mushrooms were too salty and tasted like watery. The service was good until you pay the bill and the waitress thinks you haven't paid the amount of tip she deserves. Then this person started insulting me in front of everybody saying don't you dare to come here again, you do not deserve eating in restaurants..
That was the worst experience in a restaurant ever. I would not recommend this place even to the worst enemy, for Christ sake!

Overpriced food but all would be worth it for the convenience of being in the museum... IF there were professionals serving customers. I watched an outburst of a waitress as she demeaned and humiliated a senior woman eating alone, because of a tip! It was clear to me that they don't pay well their waiters and also condone unacceptable behaviors toward their customers. It is a trap! Pay high per cent tip or else, subject yourself to aggressive, humiliating, demeaning, rude comments! Outrageous personal attacks and comments toward customers tolerated by management, this will destroy any atmosphere! There are many incidences of this document all over the internet, it must be common practice at this restaurant!

This place is a scam. First of all, we went to get a table for two when there were empty tables, we were told we had to wait about 15 min. Secondly, food is overpriced and not even good. The restaurant was also almost going to close the kitchen. We waited, and we saw how guests were leaving the seats with no one else in the line with us, and we still had to wait. When they welcomed us, we were given a menu with no further info on the dishes served. A rude waiter came by and we ordered, already quite disappointed by the service. After a few minjtes and when we were still eat( the service was terribly slow), the same waiter came back to leave the bill and asked us to pay whenever we were ready. He ordered us to leave a tip and got mad when we decided to pay the minimun that was on the bill (and was already too much for the service offered). I waited for him to coubt the money and confirm the amount was correct, and he screamed at ne asking if I needed anything else. A nightmare.
Excellent attention, also excellent food.
The restaurant is small, perhaps a little cramped. But it was worth it, I highly recommend it, especially due to the attention of the restaurant staff, who were all very kind and attentive.

Normal food. When the bill arrived and I was going to pay, the waiter (Asian man with glasses) was literally forcing us to pay him a 25% tip. We told him for a moment (since we had to get more money) he left upset and cursing. Seeing all this, stunned and not giving any more problems, we only put the minimum tip that was required on the ticket (attached photo). When we got up and my girl had forgotten her bottle of water on the table she told us: something else!!! . We grabbed the water bottle and left. Disastrous. Don't come eat in here.

Love coming here whenever we are in the museum. Service and food is always great. Be prepared for a wait, would recommend to come by and reserve a spot 20-60 minutes before you or your group would like to eat.

Wish I could tell you about their food, but unfortunately they refused to seat my family of 4 because they claimed to be a "full lunch type of venue". I inquired if we could be seated for dessert and coffee, and only then was told that there was a 40 min wait, and that they could not seat us unless we had lunch.
There were two empty tables behind the hostess and no one waiting to be seated.
I politely nodded and we walked away, but the whole situation left a bad taste in my mouth because it's the first time someone tells me to my face that I cannot be seated unless I buy items I am not interested in.
I'd suggest they place a sign somewhere to make their policies clear, if that's even their policy.
We're museum members and should not be treated like that.
The Restaurant at Gilder is absolutely worth your visit. The food is scrumptious, the presentation is a work of art. Is an experience for your senses.
