The Restaurant at Gilder

Wouldn’t let us order drinks and a snack….they said we can only order a full entree meal. No wonder why 2.9 stars and place was empty lunch time!!

Disgusting. I found WORMS in my salad — only after I had already eaten the whole thing. When I told the manager, Shawna, she only took $5 off my bill. That’s insulting and completely unacceptable. Serving contaminated food and brushing it off shows zero concern for customer safety. I’ll be reporting this to the health department. Avoid this place.

Was surprised to see a nice restaurant in the museum. Great quality food dishes with fair prices and service was exceptional. Exceeded expectations. Our waiter was Giovanni T.

The staff at restaurant check-in were incredibly kind and courteous. The server was absolutely wonderful. The food was delicious and well prepared. Long-time AMNH visitor and my first time eating in this location was a welcomed and pleasant experience.

They would not allow me to eat there, even though there were several empty tables and no queue. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this restaurant that refuses to serve certain customers.

Salmon plate is impeccable. Butterfly lemonade drink and mocktails are delightful. Soup of the day always good. Just don’t let yourself down and settle for a burger, which is fine, but just a burger.

Perfect spot to grab lunch so you don’t lose any time exploring the incredible museum. You are able to put your name on, go browse:use the restroom and then receive a text once your table is ready. This to me was 10000% better option than any of the quick service cafes you can find throughout the museum. I did not have crazy expectations due to the reviews however I was impressed with the quality of the meal! I shared the chopped chicken salad as well as a burger. Both were super tasty with generous portion sizes and the service was fast and friendly

Waited over an hour for thick fries and a bland burger that makes it hard to swallow. Had to throw away half the burger and go somewhere else to dine. Do Not Go, bad service, bad food, bad overall.

Terrible, had to wait over 1 hour and 30 minutes to get mediocre food. They have food on the app that’s they no longer service. My family wasted their time they could have spent on the museum waiting at this restaurant. 100% WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. Please don’t go and ruin your experience at the museum…

Late lunch (1:30) makes for a quieter, less rushed, experience. Excellent burger, the roasted cauliflower option is good but salad portion could be larger!

The service and food was wonderful. As a tourist I was surprised by the expense, with tip,$90.00 for two. I am told that is average for NYC sit down meals. So you need to budget extra if you want to eat in sit down restaurants.

We had the burger and chicken sandwiches. Both were tasty with excellent presentation. My only comment is the burger is made with a very lean beef. It came across as dry to me. We swapped halves so my wife who tried it and told me to stop whining, it's fine. Oh and great French Fries too.
