Went on Thursday night and got there at 10pm, it was closed with doors locked, not a soul inside, so it clearly had been closed for a while already. Hours say they close at midnight on Thursdays, nothing on the door saying why they closed early that night (we would've understood if they had posted a sign saying they were short staffed or something.) What are the actual hours of this place?

The food and beer was okay. I would have liked to have checked out the decor more, but was seated outside and by the time I finally concluded I had been forgotten and went inside to pay I was irritated and I just wanted to leave.

No idea what the negative reviews are about.Had a great experience. Quirky justice league dark/John Constantine/American werewolf in London vibes! Friendly service. New hangout in NYC.

Had the worst cocktail of my life here. Basically it was food coloring and sugar water. Maybe this is a beer only kind of place.

It’s Saturday night April 2nd 2022. It’s heaving outside and every bar is full.Except this god awful place. I think it’s literally the worst bar that I’ve ever been in.My friend and I got in okay as there were only two of us. But when I ordered drinks the woman behind the bar was speaking loudly to her colleague who was checking IDs: “It’s almost 8pm. You know what that means? It’s means that it’s getting closer to 9pm. Which is getting closer to 10pm. Which is getting closer to 10.20pm when I can start telling everyone that they need to leave.”Friendly!Then I sat down at a table by the door. Whoa!! The stool is dangerously wobbly! I get another chair and it’s almost as wobbly!But none of this would make me write a review. I hardly ever write reviews.Next we watch as groups of people enter the bar only to be told that there is a “no standing” rule. Yep, everyone needs to be seated. This place is dead compared to every other bar on the street. It feels empty. People entering just can’t believe what they are hearing.I’m curious so I ask the security woman (who is flopped on a bar stool so she can chat with her colleague) why they are turning away customers. She mumbles something about covid and fire safety. Apparently the fire safety is a bit suspect in this bar because “it’s an old building”.At one point a group walk in and a few people in the group don’t hear about the no standing rule (what’s wrong with them!) and try to order a drink. The woman at the bar grumpily chastises them for not having their IDs checked and proudly tells them about the no standing rule.I don’t think I’ve ever seen service that is designed to kill a businessBecause that’s the only conclusion that my friend and I could make. These two loyal employees must have some scam going. Maybe they want to kill it so they can take it over or something.I know that sounds ridiculous but, trust me, if you saw what I saw then you’d be thinking the same thing.I truly hope the owner of the bar reads this review. It’s a spectacular management failure.AVOID!!

Went there Saturday night, April 2nd, 2022. They only serve two beers on tap, yet the bartender didn't know how or didn't feel like pouring a proper pint of Guinness. It was 1/3 foam. She then repeatedly joked to the bouncer, sitting at the bar, about how much time was left before they could close-up shop. The bouncer didn't appear to want new customers to stay. When people came in, she told them they couldn't stand. If they couldn't find a seat, they had to leave. I quickly finished my beer and left.

My friends and I meet up here every year. Its warm anc cozy with a wood burning fireplace. The food is great and the cocktails too.

Good food, good service and a fun atmosphere due to all the monster decorations.

Fun bar & lots of historic enthusiasm

Neat ambiance but the service is awful. I went with a group of friends the other night. I ordered a rum and coke and received a small glass of rum, then had to ask the bar for the soda. Our server caught me "getting drinks behind his back" and complained to me about separate checks. When I told him he got my rum and coke wrong, he explained that "it's my weekend too man", and that he can't be expected to care about each drink.

If you’re looking for a casual beer in a cozy setting with a few TVs that isn’t overrun by the whole West Village scene, this is a good option.

Great, epic and legendary NYC bar.

Ambiance was creepy. Bartender overworked. Beer was cold. Place not crowded at 10 pm on Friday nite. I like it.
