Odd customer service experience, similar to what others have cited before me.
You can’t go inside, order outside, no samples, a tad off putting service
Ice cream was decent, on par with oddfellows but not as good as van leeuwen
This might be the most adorable place on the upper east side! There’s a lot of signage out front explaining to wait outside bc there’s not a lot of room inside. It’s really not an issue and the people complaining seem to just need a reason to be mad. The chocolate chip / Oreo cookies were so so good! The mint chip ice cream (best in the city, so I’m told) was amazing and it comes in a little Chinese food to-go box - and the last surprise was temperature color changing spoons! My inner child was stoked! This place is so unique and the lovely human who helped us made the whole experience top notch.
Extremely friendly owner, and a wide assortment of sweets from all over the world. The price is extremely reasonable, especially so when considering the shipping fees. Highly recommend!
Any candy you can imagine and a multitude of licorice varieties. IceCream too !
A not to be missed location!
I had a very disappointing first visit. When I arrived, I was told it’s ‘full service’ and that I would be served outside. When I asked how I could look at products and decide what I wanted, the staff member responded in a dismissive and sarcastic manner, vaguely pointing to signs outside. Even simple questions about the menu were met with a rude tone. For a store selling sweets, I expected a friendly and welcoming environment, especially since I had planned a significant order. Unfortunately, the poor customer service completely turned me off, and I won’t be returning.
Great selection of sweets offered. I requested a half lb of assorted soft chewy candy. Clerk was kind enough to ask if I wanted sweet or sour. Every piece I received was different. That was impressive. Please note, you stand outside of the door and tell them your order through a speaker system, then when your order is ready, a door opens that is located lower within the door, and they hand you your items through it. Ice cream is approximately a half cup serving size and not worth the price. It's served in a Mini Chinese take out container, that is about 1/3 full. The serving was so small it was impossible to have a taste/piece of everything that was supposed to be in the ice cream flavor.
No indoor seating, but they have two cafe style tables on the sidewalk.
Rude, smarmy “service”. I just went for first time and opened the door to be told it’s “full service” and they serve me outside. I said how do I look at things and work out what I want (normal right for any store to be able to LOOK at their wares) and the guy said in smarmy way that all of it is there and vaguely pointed to signs outside. I started reading an ice cream menu and was confused and said “where?” and he said sarcastically “that’s the ice cream menu”. I’ve never felt such arrogant, smarmy, rude tone from someone who works in any shop let alone one selling sweets!! Too bad. Was going to be spending about $500 for big event. I’ll be telling everyone how rude they were and how unwelcoming it was.
There’s some mystical being that serves here. He gave me a free root beer candy which I expected to be terrible but it was so good I’m now writing this review, and that’s not even mentioning the quality of what we actually ordered.
A candy store that you can’t go inside of to see the candy? Weird…
The cup of pie and half baked cookies are things that dreams are made of! 😋

Remembering this place after 8 years and founded on google to unlock a memory for my wife! Love this place!
The desserts here are good, but the service is incredibly unreliable. I've ordered from this place multiple times, and it's a recurring pattern: they accept the order, make you wait a half hour or more, then suddenly cancel with no explanation. It’s incredibly frustrating—especially when you’re counting on them for a special occasion. Most recently, they completely ruined my birthday dessert. I waited over 90 minutes, only to have the order canceled last-minute. No communication, no update, nothing.
Happened Amon this amazing store by chance. I went near closing. Matthew was super helpful. I sat outside and couldn’t decide. He allowed me to come in and take a load of photos. As a Brit I was surprised to find a load of sweets I normally like. Especially the gummy cola bottles. I’m almost 50 years old and the memories were wonderful. Matthew showed me some alternatives. I felt a bit rushed as I realized the time but he didn’t mention anything. No hard sell which was also great. I regret not buying more stuff as I got to a friends birthday party and sweets got devoured! (50/50 Brits / NYers). Popping candy was a hit. I saved some l
Candy buttons for cupcakes I’m making. I was advised they won’t melt in buttercream (Yay). I’m definitely going back for more sweets and will try an ice cream. I’m pretty sure Matthew gave me a complimentary lollipop! The one on the pic. The rest is what survived the party. Brown bag was the cola bottle bag. A couple of seats outside under a tree. Which was nice for a rest and shade. Definitely go and check this place out. I’m so glad I came across it as I’ll be a regular.
🫶🏾 Matthew.
Great Gelato, good owner
