First time to visit yakitori. Quite impressive with the different flavor and texture of each part of chicken. Make sure your stomach is empty. It’s darn pretty good amount of food.

Food was incredible. Very authentic and different from your traditional omakase. Service was fantastic with Megumi. Would recommend.

A great menu with each dish and skewer perfectly cooked. Great char and amazing flavour from the grill. It would have been good to see a wider variety of skewers and accompaniments as they were mostly chicken and very simple.
I was a little disappointed that the meatball skewer was not served with an onsen egg.
The wonton soup was unique and had a silky texture. Loved how the menu finished with a comforting bowl of ramen and a smooth caramel purin.
Staff were attentive and welcoming. Overall a fantastic experience!
I've been here twice. Once a year or two ago and again recently. It's gotten even better.
I am Japanese living in NY.
Friends in Japan often ask me ‘ can you eat good Japanese food in ny?’ I said we can get more delicious stuff than Japan if we pay twice to triple price. Here is typical one.
very not good, go to kono. also stupid expensive
Torien was okay not great. Mainly it wasn't worth the price by a long shot. It's all chicken, I knew that going in. It was well and precisely cooked but simply not particularly tasty. It isn't near the top the list of yakitori places in NYC, frankly I have had much better on the street in Seoul and Tokyo. Realistically I would pass on this. The room and the presentation was okay at best, the service was good it's just that its a meal that was worth maybe 15% of the price. There's actually not a single specific piece that is worth pointing to and saying wow that was good. Too bad.
Restaurantji Recommends
The best yakitori in nyc and even better than places I’ve had in Japan. Truly mind blowing - never knew chicken could taste like this! One of the top restaurants I’ve been to in 2024.

Incredible atmosphere, engaging staff and great service . Head chef and his team were friendly and the flavour generated from the grill was delicious. Tasting menu was plentiful and recommend pairing with Sake.
The service was excellent, and after the meal, the chef even sees you off at the door. However, the food was a bit salty overall, and towards the end, it became a little overwhelming.

This is my 2nd time here. The last time I had a different chef and yakitori were just OK. But this time it is fantastic. Very well prepared and greatly executed! Attentive nice services. This time iI feel like I am in Tokyo! I had a great time to dine here. I recommend this place for a great yakitori dinner experience!
