The pastas were delicious and perfectly al dente. The tortellini pomodoro had simple and clean flavours. While fusion flavours are difficult to nail, the cavatelli with Jamaican Beef Ragu was a standout fusion dish executed perfectly. The affogato was perfection and innovative with coffee flavoured shaved ice on top, I could have a few of them on my own.

The service and atmosphere were enjoyable, but the food was just okay—nothing special. While it wasn’t a bad experience, there are definitely better Italian spots in the city that I’d choose first.

Great, but not incredible. I was not blown away but I think overall this was a great meal that left some to be desired.
The good:
- the cocktails (the negroni is amazing)
- the cucumber appetizer
- the tortellini dish
- the dessert, especially the affogato
- attentive service & overall great ambiance, beautiful place settings and decor
The not so good:
- some of the specials we ordered were quite bland or missed the mark
- the steak was ok, a little dry and the balsamic glaze was not as flavorful as i’d hoped
- service at times felt somewhat rushed, we arrived early in the evening and it was clear they wanted to turn over tables quickly
- generally, courses were timed well but dishes were coming out quite fast and they were moments of overlap / too many dishes at a time

Went for lunch and we happened to sit by the today’s special banner - got intrigued by this lowkey “handcut noodle” for $140. Our server explained it comes with uni and caviar so we thought the price is well justified and got it. See below pic (to be fair it’s half portion as 2 of us split the dish).
There’re rarely any spendings that makes me feel stupid but this is one of them. For $140 a pasta dish we expected more ingredients or larger portions. We won’t consider this as a fine dinning thing either, as there’s nothing fine if you look at it. The manager explained the uni is from Hokkaido and caviar is from Russia and the hand cut noodle is a difficult technique, and she kindly comp’d our dessert. But this is not really her problem nor the server’s problem - chef you need to do better with your daily special so ppl work in your restaurant can have an easier job.

Torrisi initially wowed me with its innovative and flavorful dishes, perfectly capturing the melting pot of culture that is NYC. Unfortunately, my recent visit was marred by subpar service. The hostess, Alexis, was immediately and shockingly confrontational, lacking basic hospitality. The waitstaff seemed rushed, constantly trying to clear plates prematurely, and the table service was disjointed. The overall experience was unpleasant and I would have left but my friend was visiting from out of town. While the food is still commendable, the service has significantly declined, making me hesitant to return.

4th time here for lunch. My reservation was made for 2 in the dining room however we were seated in front of the bar I asked the host if we could sit in the dining room (noticing) only a few tables were taken, he replied this is the dining room and promptly walked away. OK fine ...so I got to sit and watch the cooks work, I start to noticing the stocky man with glasses beared and yellow apon that passes the food from one area to the next before it's sent out to customers is eating off the customers plates, using the SAME utensils that is used to stir noodles and other food that is being sent directly to customers. It took my food 30 minutes to arrive at my table at that time, I watched this man do this 6 times.... all other times I've been to Torrisi, everything's has been amazing, but today, just wow, big F i really wanted to say something while I was there but no sense in messing up my party's meal today.

We came from a far, after my daughter who lives in the city, made a reservation for our family to celebrate my wife’s birthday on 12/9/24. It was a complete disaster. The server was totally obnoxious, condescending as well. The manager, we complained to did nothing for us! We planed on having a beautiful day to celebrate my wife’s birthday. It turned into a horrible experience! 😡
My daughter, who’s gone to your restaurant prior on several occasions will never go back!
I will tell family and friends about the terrible experience.

Great food, but potential food safety concerns.
I have always wanted to dine at Torrisi for so long, but this experience left me a little disappointed.
While eating the linguini, I unexpectedly bit into a hard object that felt like a small stone, and I suspected it might have affected my tooth cuz I heard a very clear cracking sound when I bit. When I informed the waiter, they were nice to help me contact the manager. The manager was polite and offered to remove the dish from my bill, and asked me if I need an ambulance, which I really appreciated. I don’t think this issue needed to go that far to have an ambulance, so I refused. Instead, I asked if they may cover the cost of a dental check-up if there really is an issue to my tooth, they said they refused to take any responsibility.
I understand that restaurants may be hesitant to cover medical expenses, but food safety should be a top priority. I hope the restaurant takes this matter seriously and improves their ingredient screening process to ensure a safer dining experience for all customers.

Torissi felt more like a scene than a serious dining experience. It's the kind of place you'd take out-of-town guests or go to be seen. That said, the tortellini and decor were solid, but everything else—desserts, service—were entirely forgettable.

We came with a major food group member the first time we dined here and the food was to die for - specifically the tortellini. We got everything on the menu and paid a hefty bill that was well worth the experience.
Blown away, we came back with another set of friends months later and had a very different experience - specifically with the service. I asked to the waitress for a glass of their house Pinot noir. She told me she brought me her recommended Pinot noir glass, which I thought was a nice touch. I then get the bill and see she charged me for the most expensive glass of Pinot on the menu. I feel as though this is blatantly taking advantage of a consumer and put a sour taste in my mouth about the entire experience. We then placed our order. The waitress suggested we add in the Boars Head on Toast as it is a fan favorite. Hesitant, but open to the suggestion, we tried it. We collectively did not enjoy the taste - we didn’t touch it outside of our initial taste test. The waiteress checked in asking our thoughts so we shared our feedback. They she responded “sorry about that!” And, of course, she still charged us for the item. No remorse for leading us astray after encouraging us to add more items and as a result, money, to the bill.
Given we were with friends, I did not say anything or make a fuss, but I will likely not be returning as a result. The waitstaff should realize a little give goes a long way and trust is expected in such fine dining experiences.

Restaurantji Recommends
Ashley, I think you need to learn a thing or two about hospitality. The bar was quite empty when I arrived. Your staff is rude and unwelcoming. The restaurant very unbecoming. I wouldn’t recommend this place on any occasion as such. And Dorsia at $350pp for a silly pasta place - I don’t think is worth the hype (which if you didn’t have to pay for celebrities to come wouldn’t even exist).

Great atmosphere, great food
Everything was so good! Pomodoro was classic and great, and Chicken alla griglia was very flavorful - the sauce tasted like Foie gras and the chicken was juicy and crispy outside. Linguini clam sauce was a bit salty to me, but went well with their sesame bread. Don’t skip dessert - get the affogato! Their affogato is so special, which is made of mascarpone cheese, ice cream, chocolate, and they shaved decaf coffee ice on top of it! It was very scrumptious!
