Love the flavors and the energy at Tortazo Flatiron. As well as timeliness of order pickup.

My husband and I have been watching Rick Bayless’s YouTube videos and making his recipes for a couple years now! We were so excited to try one of his restaurants and we’re not disappointed!!We started with the almost naked Guac and Chips. The guacamole was so fresh and tasty! My husband got the Carne Asada torta and I got the Roasted Mushroom quesadilla. Both were packed with flavor and cooked to perfection.Looking forward to when we can visit Tortazo again!!

Not to be dramatic, but this might be the best food I have ever eaten in my life! When I ordered, I thought I was going with a “boring” choice of chicken quesadilla. I have had that at other restaurants dozens of times, but here it was just so delicious and so much better than anywhere else. The ingredients were all so fresh and perfectly balanced. Even the chips and salsa were something special. Wish I could go back!

Im honestly heartbroken after wanting to try food from Rick Bayless for years and having this be my experience. Before I ordered I was struggling to decide which of the many things to order, telling myself I’ll come back to try them all, but now I’ll look for Mexican food elsewhere in NYC. A really disappointing experience where I literally got scammed out of $10+ because the order was wrong and there was no way to contact the restaurant.I ordered a chicken quesadilla and a milanesa torta from them but they only sent the quesadilla, which was incredibly salty and the chicken was lacking in flavor.I called the restaurant twice to see if they could deliver the torta and no one picked up the phone, and the app I ordered from didn’t refund me the full cost of the missing torta. If you want to end up spending $30+ for some mid Mexican food come here.

Amazing, we walked in off the street, super friendly staff. The atmosphere and music was very casual. Two of us ordered the chilaquiles and another order the shrimp tacos- excellent! Never had chilaquiles before, it was tortilla chips bathed in either a green sauce and topped with chicken or egg, plus crema, onion and cheese, so tasty and authentic! Do not think that you will pick up the tacos as they were covered in deliciousness!! Fernando our waiter was super friedly and very attentive! I would definitely recommend this place! Cheers, enjoy NYC

So the food here is not Tex-Mex, which I think is a very good thing. Tex-Mex in NYC, in general is mediocre in my opinion. Good Mexico Mexican food is rare in NYC.The Chorizo Tlayuda was fantastic! Flavorful, crispy, and with great texture. The Tortilla Soup had a distinct, earthy flavor that made it stand out from typical chicken broth based tortilla soup. The El Tortazo Salad was exceptional! I recommend adding the chicken AND the fried egg plant. Fried egg plant was delicious and added to a salad is something you don't see everywhere.I also recommend going with a pitcher of El Super Clasico Margaritas. Not too strong, with a great balance of flavors. But the best thing on the menu at Tortazo has to be the Mexican Drinking Chocolate. Made of fresh ground cocoa beans this tasted exactly like the offerings at the Museum of Chocolate in Mexico City. Outstandingly authentic! And of course, one must have such a fine beverage accompanied by Churros. The Churros Rellenos are filled with cajeta, Mexican style caramel made from goat's milk. Our waiter, Adam S., provided impeccable service, was never pushy, and very attentive. He was the cherry-on-top for our meal. This was the best dining experience we had during our five day trip to New York City, and it was well worth the time it took to seek out this gem.

I’m very disappointed. I have followed Rick Bayless through his recipes. I have enjoyed making several of his dishes. Unfortunately as soon as I was seated the waitress was unpleasant. She passed my table several times untill we were offered water and drinks. This is after she served customers that arrived after us water. She then takes my order and brings out wrong order. My Steak torta was ok but not amazing as I’m familiar to what a true torta is. Later on waitress rudely asked what I’m waiting for. She forgot my churros. Lastly our bill was given. We were over charged double our bill for food and drinks not ordered. Unfortunately This made my night in NewYork end ?

I've never been offended by trendy Mexican as much as i was by this place. Calling these sandwiches Tortas is just plain wrong, worst bread you can choose for a torta, carne asada? HAHAHA, Ok. Salsas aren't that bad and the chips are served warm, so it's a step up from your neighborhood bar. As a mexican it's heart breaking to see all these trendy mex restaurants from non Mexican owners/chefs. But it is what it is

I ordered from this location and my food was delivered to the wrong customer according to the delivery guy who chatted with me through the App. I called the restaurant, they take a very long time to answer, a manager told me they will refund me and will sent my order. I got charged for the food that arrived cold and 2 hours later. If the manager had given me the option I would have cancelled and I will never order from this place again.

Services was fantastic. Chicken enchiladas were amazing. Hot chocolate is worth the visit alone. Great food for a great price. I had enchiladas, a Paloma, and a hot chocolate for under $50. Can't beat this spot and the prices honestly. We need more of these in Manhattan.
