I really wanted to like this place — the staff were kind, the atmosphere was pleasant.
But unfortunately, the food quality was extremely disappointing.

Make sure to call if they are doing walk ins before going. They always have but today they did some special and was “ticketed” and were sold out for 5pm. Good for them.

The food itself is good, but they did not seat our 9 people party in a good manner where we can still talk to each other (they placed us in one long row with another party of 2 taking the corner) despite making us pre-pay the whole party’s meal cost in full with a 20% gratuity on top of tax over the phone (which they never answer, I called many times over many days while on my trip and ended up having to communicate through email/text) for adding one extra person to our 8 ppl reservation, which made it difficult to split the bill for people from out of country. I ended up having to pay crazy PayPal conversion rates/fees for this meal that no longer made it a “value” omakase. We initially thought maybe the restaurant only had 8 spots so it makes sense, but we ended up sitting really far from each other with strangers around, so honestly we could’ve just made separate reservations anyway and not dealt with the prepaid situation. I wish this was better explained to us before booking. I think this is definitely better for a small intimate meal but not worth for any larger parties for the amount of struggle and inconvenience it was.

Nicely executed omakase meal for a reasonable price. Tuna was out of this world. Scallops and ikura also well done. I ordered extra mackerel because it was so good. Rice was good quality and complemented the fish well. Loved the help guide for the sake choice.

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Taino UWS, and it was truly an exceptional experience from beginning to end. The quality of the fish was outstanding — every piece was fresh, flavorful, and prepared with the kind of care that immediately sets this place apart. Each bite highlighted the chef’s attention to sourcing and technique, which made the meal not only delicious but also memorable.

The presentation and demonstration were equally impressive. Watching the chef work so skillfully right in front of us added an extra layer of appreciation to the meal. Every course was introduced thoughtfully, with clear attention to detail and artistry. It was as much a visual experience as it was a culinary one.

The chef was also extremely attentive throughout, checking in on our preferences, explaining the selections, and ensuring everything was tailored to the moment. This level of interaction elevated the meal into something far more personal and engaging than a standard dining experience.

The service overall was fantastic. The staff were professional, warm, and well-coordinated, creating a smooth and welcoming atmosphere that made us feel well taken care of from the moment we walked in.

I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an elevated sushi experience at a very affordable price -$58 pricefix. Between the impeccable freshness of the fish, the precision of the demonstration, and the attentiveness of both the chef and the staff, it’s the kind of place that leaves a lasting impression and makes you eager to return.

If I could give 6 stars I would do it.
This is definitely a hidden gem in the UWS.
Service, atmosphere , the freshness and quality of the food is excellent.
Omakase is pricey, but I feel like this is affordable in the range.
When to go? For a date, or with friends. Max 4 people as the setup is not focus on socialize.

I highly recommend it and I would definitely come back.

Everything about this omakase restaurant is perfect. Every piece was delicious with some fun topping combinations. Sake menu is very detailed and the two bottles we tried were great. Our chef and staff were lovely. Atmosphere is very clean and relaxing. Price is SUCH a steal.
