Absolutely beautiful atmosphere where every detail is unique and considered down to the hand-dyed linens and beautiful individual sake glasses, and the food is a creative twist on traditional omakase. Unfussy and comfortable dining, perfect for someone who wants to try omakase for the first time!

Had dinner tonight, amazing food and service! The server made note “all compliments go to the chef”, spoke volumes to their culture and style. Nestled in the heart of west village, this gem needs to be on your list.

Ueki, nestled in the West Village, has become my favorite omakase experience in New York. The subdued ambiance with its dim lighting creates an understated, intimate setting, making it suitable for a casual yet subtly high-end dining experience. There are 12-seats. I believe 8 around the bar. The chefs and Jack are all very friendly and provide excellent service, a friendly smile always, and fun experience. letting you enjoy the atmosphere, food, and experiennce while providing you with any knowledge you require. Not much to be added here!Moving on to the food - it's consistently delicious and yet constantly improving. The sushi assortment is skillfully prepared, showcasing a reliable standard of freshness. Each dish is thoughtfully executed with its unique differences in the sushi's composition and flavors. I think there was a light plum sauce on one I enjoyed and one topped with oats I believe that was delightful. If you fancy a drink, highly recommend to pair with the Blue Ribbon sake selections! Guaranteed a good time.5/5!

Nestled in the alleys of West Village, as you step into the restaurant, it departs from the typical bright ambiance of Japanese eateries. The lighting inside is dim and soft, creating a cozy atmosphere. Picture it as if a sushi master in Kyoto decided to open a comfortable sushi joint in an unassuming alley, preserving the traditional art of sushi-making with a touch of creative seasoning. It's not too formal, allowing you to chat with friends over some sake, making for a laid-back omakase experience.Ueki upholds the Blue Ribbon reputation and even surpasses it! The seafood and sashimi are incredibly fresh. This was actually my third visit, and I can genuinely say it's a favorite. Each time, I've noticed subtle changes in the menu - more refinement, more deliciousness. The attention to detail from both the staff and the master chef is truly commendable.First, Jack, the server, welcomes each person with an appetizing non-alcoholic yuzu vinegar, followed by a delectable dish of lobster, sea urchin, and fish roe topped with edible gold and crispy fried seaweed. Then came the truffle-steamed crab egg.Next up is a foie gras with caviar mini burgers, and a platter of four kinds of sashimi, each a delightful treat. The dedication to quality is evident from the impressive array of starters.Moving on to the nigiris , I believe there were around 8-10 pieces (I was too engrossed in eating to count precisely). One standout was a piece featuring fresh sashimi adorned with a perfect amount of oats and miso, an unexpectedly delicious combination. Another Highlight was the seared wagyu and toro sushi, along with a raw toro belly sushi dipped on a hot stone – it practically melted in the mouth! And, There was a delightful Mantis shrimp sushi, the very first time I've ever had, yet so flavorful! Oh, and I must rave about their uni hand roll - the portion of uni given was incredibly generous! If you're a sea urchin fan like me, you'll be over the moon!Lastly, a steaming bowl of lobster miso soup to cap off the meal – truly satisfying.Distinct from the prevalent fast-paced omakase culture in New York lately, I feel that Ueki's quality and price make it a more worthwhile experience to try! I highly recommended it!

Ueki is a culinary gem, offering an omakase experience that surpasses expectations. With every dish, the chefs showcase their mastery. What sets Ueki apart is their unique and ever-changing menu, ensuring that each visit brings new surprises and delights. The intimate space was chic and inviting, the service was impeccable, and Jack added an extra layer of fun with his charm, humor and expert knowledge. The wine and sake list is also amazing. Ueki has firmly secured its place as my favorite omakase spot in the city, and I can't wait for my next visit!

Unique omakase experience in an intimate setting, prepared and served by Japanese chef and two sous chefs. 17+ courses. Each one an artistic creation blending traditional Sushi forms with subtle variations. No inauthentic ingredients such as cream cheese or sauces. A full, relaxing evening of culinary surprises and perfect service.

Starting Yuzu lemon cold (non-alcohol as Aperitif was so refreshing and all dishes were beautiful and tasty. We had 5 years old boy (who loves sushi and sashimi) with us. And mom and I are worry that we may not able to get seat. However there was cozy table seating which works perfect to us and not bother other dating patrons. I liked this table setting since omakase style has only counter seating. Thank you for all staff Ueki we had a wonderful night.

Jack was incredible. Wonderful and memorable night but only for the delicious 17 course meal, but also for the first class service. In the beginning of the meal, the staff explains that the intention of a 12 seat omakase is to feel like you are eating with friends. The staff more than accomplished this. I will be back

Only 12 seats so to get a reservation was impossible. But boy was it worth the wait.

An intimate, cozy omakase experience that was truly unlike anything I have had before. The biggest highlight was the 10-week dry-aged otoro! The chef explained each course, and it was such a comfortable environment to enjoy delicious food. Honestly a steal - 19 courses for $195. A true hidden gem in the west village.
