Extremely disappointed with this place. I came from out of town to celebrate my brother’s birthday, and he specifically wanted to come here because it’s one of his favorite bars in New York. Unfortunately, we never even made it inside because of the *incredibly rude* bouncer, who was hostile from the moment we walked up. Before even looking at our IDs, he immediately yelled at us that if they were fake, he would keep them. We were taken aback but proceeded anyway, because our IDs are very real and completely valid.
He barely glanced at them before refusing us entry without explanation. As a bartender myself, I tried to be understanding—I know that on a busy holiday, they probably deal with a lot of fake IDs. To help, I told my brother to show his military ID as a second form of identification. Instead of reassessing the situation, the bouncer ignored us completely before finally looking at the ID—and then had the audacity to question whether my brother had actually served in the military.
I’ve never encountered a place that refuses to accept multiple forms of valid ID, let alone one that would disrespect a military veteran like this—on his birthday, no less. The treatment we received was appalling, and I wouldn’t recommend this bar to anyone who values decent service and basic respect.
