On August 5, 2025, I was charged $815.46 for a small pay-by-weight plate at Uptown Veg NYC.
Management later acknowledged on the phone that the charge was an error and said they would provide a written confirmation, but I never received the promised letter despite multiple follow-ups by phone, text, and Instagram DM.
I have documented calls and messages confirming their acknowledgment of the overcharge, and I’ve been working with my bank to correct it.
I’m sharing this so others are aware and so the restaurant has another opportunity to resolve the issue publicly.

I love this place so much. Those BBQ drumsticks and the enormous variety of vegetables to build up your plate is incredible. Don't forget to order their mac & cheese too. The team is always so nice and helpful. I'm happy for them to be a staple in Harlem.

this cafe has very poor customer service. the 2 people that work.there are unfriendly and act like it's a problem to serve. they didn't have any drinks or desserts today. never going back there.

The staff is rude,went to inquire and purchase,nobody was there was,wasn’t greeted with a warm welcome and the young heavy girl was not trying to assist me with her back towards me,just poor customer service in an area that you would want support,it’s very disappointing that you try to patronize people and get treated with such unpleasant treatment.

We loved Uptown Veg on Lenox. Great selection in the buffet, the food was flavoursome, and exceptional value. We had bowls and a ‘fish’ Pattie. For the bowl, we said how much we wanted to spend so they could pick the amounts accordingly (price is by weight). It’s a small place and thankfully the inside tables were free when we visited.

I stumbled on this place through a food app, and am so happy that I did! The food is always fresh, soulful, and delicious. The prices are extremely reasonable. I highly recommend it to vegans and non-vegans alike!
Despite the small size of the restaurant, there was an excellent variety of food which was delicious and ready to eat as soon as you walk in.
Vegetarian options: It’s all vegan, including the chicken and the cheese and even their dessert options!

No frills vegan soul food buffet. $10 for a small plate (or $11 if you want only protein). I got rice, collards, plantains, and jerk « beef » and my partner got the same plate with soy curry. Both plates were excellent and I could not finish mine. There’s very limited seating but two tables outside and one small table inside.
I didn’t see an option to order off a menu, just the buffet. That might be because I went at lunch. But the buffet was great!

I’ve tried about 8 different items from the menu and every single one has been so delicious. Their food is so flavorful and cooked very well. You can tell they use quality ingredients too. Definitely check out even if you aren’t vegan!!
