I don't live in the neighborhood, but I stopped by the Van Leeuwen on the Upper East Side and had such a great experience thanks to Shanaya and Kayla. Their friendliness and positive energy really stood out! Great customer service like that is rare to find in NYC. I even ended up buying ice cream for my father-in-law. As a business owner myself, I know how much of a difference genuine service makes in shaping a customer's experience. I'd definitely come back next time I'm in the area.

Stopped into Van Leeuwen Ice Cream and tried the Matcha Strawberry. The flavor sounded amazing on paper but in reality it leaned very sugary and not very natural. It was interesting enough to finish, but not something I would rush back for.
The shop itself is small and stylish, very Instagram friendly, but the acoustics are rough. Even with just a few people inside the noise was bouncing off every surface. It takes away from what could be a cozy spot. A little soundproofing would go a long way.
For the ice cream alone that I had, I would say 3.5 stars. The branding, vibe, and overall experience make it four. It is worth visiting if you want something fun and different, but do not expect it to blow you away.

Specifically writing this review to Shoutout to the lady on Tuesday 8/19 at 4:28 pm who made my Pistachio Sundae the best Iāve ever had in this week of sundaes. It was the perfect concoction of toppings- light hot fudge on top of whip cream and cookie crumbles with pistachio cream. Looks like a prior reviewer also shout out to her. This ice cream made me so happy.

First time trying, we have none in Jersey that I know of!! Sooo many flavors to choose from, I need to go back to try more!!! I have to add, the 2 employees were on their own and had quite the crowd and both did a fantastic job!

We love ice cream and this ice cream was pretty good. I mean, it's definitely worth a stop, but in a world of ice cream there isn't anything that makes it way better than any other ice cream. It was yummy and creamy, but the portions were pretty small for the price.
The service was friendly and fast and the person was super helpful and patient as we tried to decide what we wanted.
