Cool place to grab some good wine and small plates. Needed a place to kill some time waiting for a train after a show and this was perfect. Thanks!

Immaculate low key vibes. A fantastic spot for a night cap and a snack to end a night out, or to kill a few hours. Bring a book and post up at the bar by yourself or bring some friends and chat for a few rounds.

A gem! Just a couple of minutes away from the Times Square but very quiet and cozy. Every single wine on the menu is available by the glass. The wine list is somewhat skewed towards France but there is plenty of great US stuff too. Extra points for having Steve de Long's maps on the walls, I am a big fan.

We hosted an engagement party here and it was perfect! Plenty of space in the back corner of the bar -- and the staff, wine, and vibes were great. Vanguard will always be a special place for us. Thank you!

Surprisingly uncrowded wine bar in the theater district. Came here for a friend's bday and thought space was perfect, ambiance great and drinks solid. Now I know there's a good bar in midtown that we can head to after a broadway play!

They don't have very good glass of wine, but I liked the food and the atmosphere. I would like to go back, but the nice looking bartender seems to be a racist. He changed his attitude depending on who he is serving, so I would prefer to go on a day when he is not there.

Had some wine after sightseeing. They did have a problem with their card reader but other than that it was a great atmosphere and kind staff.
I love Vanguard! I come every time I'm in NYC. Cynthia is a fabulous sommelier and makes you feel right at home.

Great spot near the theatre district. Went on a Saturday evening and was not crowded at all. Prices are on par with the neighborhood, but not overpriced, given the excellent selection of wines and food. This one looks almost the same as the one on the upper west side, as far as the interior decor. Great spot for a date, ambient noise, and not too loud.

We came in late and the bartender John was more than welcoming, we ended staying for over an hour while sipping some great champagne and having some great conversations.

This is a great place to come with a group. I don't think they take reservations but we showed up around 5:30 on a Friday and the place was empty. They have a pretty spacious area with long tables for seating. Since there were 5 of us, we got 2 bottles of wine and a meat and cheese platter. I thought the meat and cheese board was pretty sparse and could have had more on it for $30. It came with 2 half sized baguettes with 4 small pieces of cheese, 3 figs, 3 peppercorns and a couple meats. I guess it was heavier on the meat than cheese. Both wine bottles were quite good. We got a Malbec and cab franc.
