An unforgettable dining experience – not just a meal!
Visiting Vatan in NYC was hands-down one of the most memorable dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. The moment you step inside, you’re transported to a peaceful and serene Indian village — from the rustic decor to the calming ambiance, every detail is thoughtfully curated to give you that authentic, immersive feel.
The food? Delicious! Vatan offers an all-you-can-eat fixed menu that’s thoughtfully structured — a starters thali, followed by a main course thali, and finally, a dessert thali. Everything is served generously, and you can ask for as many servings as you like. Each dish was flavorful and comforting — just like a hearty meal back home.
But what truly made the evening unforgettable was our waitress, Divisha. She brought so much heart and soul to the experience. She told us, “I love food and I love people, and this job lets me do both,” — and you could feel that love in everything she did. She patiently explained every single item on the menu, the ingredients, and made sure to clarify allergy-related concerns with care and clarity.
Even when we felt full, she’d smile and say, “Take your time. I’ll come back. And if you’re ready for more, I’ll bring it with joy.” At one point she even joked, “Give me more workout — send me back to the kitchen for more food!” Her energy was infectious, her hospitality was top-notch, and she made us feel so warmly welcomed throughout.
It’s people like Divisha who elevate a restaurant from “great food” to “unforgettable experience.” Vatan has both — wonderful food and even more wonderful people. Couldn’t recommend it more!

Vatan is a vegetarian, all you can eat Indian restaurant... The food was good, authentic and simple. The appetizer and mains all came as an assortment of veggie dishes with an array of bread and flatbreads.
Besides the food the atmosphere is fun, it seemed to me that it would be a good place to host informal events. The room is great and there is also a more private balcony inside. All in all I would definitely come back..

Make sure you have an appetite, as you are served a generous array of appetizers and entrees and can ask for seconds (or thirds) of anything. The food is delicious and the service generous. Highly recommend it!

My only desire this birthday was to have Gujarati thali and someone recommended Vatan with caveat that it can be a hit or miss. How true that is!
Service- The lady at the entrance is impolite and lacks common courtesy. Our server was nice, but would interrupt conversation and seemed in a hurry to get us to finish the meal. Had to keep repeating that we will call when we're ready for next course.
Food- The first course appetiser thali was fine. Some dishes even good. The second was a complete disaster. Generic dishes like paneer and chole? really? and not made well. Large portions of khichdi, wadi, rice just left in the centre getting warm. I wonder how many people are reserved the same food.
Ambience- The interiors are interesting, but clearly they have failed to optimise space which widely spaced out tables. While it gives privacy, I guess the restaurant is forced to overcharge for a subpar thali and service.
Pricing/Value for money- $58 pp is clearly an overkill for the quality and service. Try it once so you don't do it again!
