great food BEST NACHOS EVER
Fun dinner before a show. Large portions. Love the ribs. Perfect martini from the bartender.
You definitely will not be disappointed. The food was delicious and the other tables look delicious as well. I will definitely be going back!
Two issues. I posted a review on this visit ot Virgil's right after we dine there. Because my phone number was posted with it, the restaurant called me within hours, apologizing and asking me to return. They called while I was working and I told the caller I would consider their offer, but I was at work and could not talk. She said she would call back the next day. Didn't happen. My original comment was that the food isn't what it used to be. The quality is not the same. The serivce was so-so. Whiel Virgil's had been a favorite for many years when in NYC, the food quality issue will keep me from returning. There is no reason for the restaurant to contact me about this follow up review.
I've been coming here for about 20 years, and introduced a friend to Virgil's this time. He loved the vibe and the food, and we had a really on-point waiter, while I got to indulge in the beers you can't find everywhere in NY (even if it's been a long time now since Virgil's carried Dixie, which got so hard to bring North after Katrina and the pandemic). The one real ding is that the place has now introduced karaoke, and just the amount of audio feedback from the mike the DJ used intruded on the meal.
This is the first time we came as open table the service was poor we waited over an he for our food to come out our waiter was rude short and did not explain well and he didn't tell us that I was paying for the water he seemed like he hated his job he wore a mask and for what reason he did not wear it properly he might as well not wear one especially if we can't understand what he's saying also the food was different than what we catered for a birthday I was really disappointed I was going to come back with friends next week but after last night I'm canceling my reservations and fyi I still left a 10 tip my bill was 127.00 I paid over 1000 for the catering in October but they won't be getting my money anymore.
Service was Amazing m. Our waiter, Brandon may have been best waiters have had. fantastic! food was amazing like always! favorite brisket and jalapeño mango sauce is one of the best sauces to try.
Best BBQ ever . Everything we had was absolutely amazing. Baked beans are the best in the world
Booked for dinner already from Italy to ensure a place. Personally I enjoyed an excellent cheeseburger. Crowded environment and tables a little too close to each other. Good service and friendly staff. At the table the napkin is a real towel, a slightly strange feeling but ok. The classic glasses of water and ice are always served (it's the first time for us Italians for sure). Standard costs for NYC always take into account the "famous" staff tips.

Hosted a high school pre theater dinner here . The food was *plentiful* - prixe fix menu. I think we would have been better off ordering off the menu. 55 per person was tough on top of transit and theater ticket price. (And there was a lot of food wasted /not eaten). Service was great. However, there was a kid with a peanut allergy that didn't know there were peanuts in the brownie. The staff was incredibly accommodating of special needs. It's pretty loud - set up and expectations (reservation, deposit, etc.) were clearly explained and executed. We were a smidge early, the tables were not ready. It was a little awkward blocking the sidewalk with a group of 48. We were on a tight schedule, it did annoy me that we weren't able to get in at our arranged time.
Vegetarian options: Mushroom burger kept the vegetarians happy
Dietary restrictions: Our party had a celiac guest whose needs were met. Our server knew about specifics, letting our member eat safely. Our peanut allergy kid was caught off guard when not told about nuts in the brownie.
Kid-friendliness: Lots of kids, finger food, loud, so kids fit right in.

It's convenient but crowded because, of course, it's in the middle of Times Square. The wait was not terrible, and the food was not so great. The food came just warm-ish, the chicken had pink spots where it was ckearly undercooked. Expected the street corn warm/hot, but it's a cold dish. The Mac and cheese was cheesey, mashed potato was ok but would have loved it hot. The corn bread was dry, the salmon cooked perfectly but no flavor. The staff seemed overwhelmed and it's loud/noisy because, lots of people+ loud music =noisy. Overall it was just a place to grab a quick bite and keep it moving.

I was extremely disappointed in the food, service, and managment responses with my concern for my dinning experience. My party of 4 booked through OpenTable for a reservation. We were seated within 5 minutes of us getting escorted to the bar area. Utensils were dirty when we got to the table, leading to us asking for a glass of hot water to sterilize prior to use. We ordered one of the Party Jug drinks, and questioned the quantity of alcohol- they stated they pour 12oz of alcohol and could not give any accommodation due to the taste. She offered for us to purchase additional shots to add- we kindly declined. On the OpenTable application, it stated the ‘Pig Out,’ meal was $59.95, although on their menu it stated $69.95- advertisement miscommunication at its FINEST! We spoke to the manager Tommy, whom reiterated there would be no price matching or accommodation due to THEIR error. Then the icing on the cake was actually receiving our meal… We ordered our food at 5:26 PM and received it to our table at 5:31 PM…… 5 minutes to cook, BBQ, grill and prepare the food????? Pure insanity! The food was cold, and the mac & cheese had a film over top as if it were sitting there for hours prior to being brought to my table. When bringing this up to Tommy & the Management’s team, absolutely NOTHING was done. I do NOT NOT NOT recommend this restaurant under any circumstances. Over priced, management will not accommodate for there staff and facilities mistakes.
