Virgil's Real BBQ - Times Square

Had to wait 30 minutes for a table outside in the cold even though we had a reservation. Service was rushed and food was cold. Server had no idea what gluten free was. Tourist trap

Been going to Virgil's since 1994- always great. Thanksgiving dinner (smoked turkey)was very good.

My experience was wonderful . Our waiter Augusto did a great job and the food was delicious.

Food and location was great. Service was average and had to wait a while to get attention for a drink refill. Super noisy

I visited Virgil's Times Square on a recent work trip on a recommendation, and am so glad I did. Sat at the bar to watch the Chiefs game. The bartender Layla could not have been nicer or more efficient. Perfect balance of conversation, delicious drink choice (custom-made old fashioned!) and she was just super kind and down to earth. When you are a girl sitting at a bar watching football, you never know what random dude will try to talk to you. So it was a breath of fresh air to have a fun fellow girl in my midst - plus an amazing meal. Pulled pork sandwich was A+. Thanks again Layla and say hi to your mom! ;)

I know texas bbq and this aint it folks, meat was room temperature and dried out, the sides feel hastily put together. Service was decent. If you want reheated stuff go ahead and eat here, if you want an authentic culinary experience theres plenty more on offer that are closer to the real thing in nyc.

Virgil's is an excellent place for BBQ in the middle of NYC.

As you can see from my pictures, we got:

- BBQ chicken wings - our party got 3 plates of them, one for each of the options: Classic, Carolina Gold and Sweet Chili Sauce. Carolina was our favorite.

- The Pig Out (for 2 people) - came with two spare ribs, pulled pork, smoked 1/4 chicken, hot sausage, cornbread, a couple pickle slices, and 2 sides: mac n' cheese & collard greens. The ribs and pulled pork and sides were good, but nothing to write home about. The sausage, cornbread and chicken were excellent. Some chicken breast was left over til that night and it was still found to be soft and moist, unlike BBQ at some other places. This may or may not be worth it for you at $73.

The atmosphere was tastefully rustic - try to score a table upstairs. Service was nice and prompt.

So drop by Virgil's for some great BBQ, it's especially good after seeing a show.

First time in New York came to Virgil’s BBQ and AUGUSTO was our server and he was amazing!
Food was amazing, service amazing, honestly yall need to come eat at Virgil’s bbq AND ASK FOR AUGUSTO he is AWESOME! best server I had in my time in nyc!

Ribs were excellent, the brisket way too dry. Excellent potato salad. Brussels sprouts and collards were good but way too salty. Corn bread should have been better. Service was excellent. So: I'd go back and get more ribs and some potato salad.

Great food, served quickly and huge portions. We had to take some away! The buttermilk fried chicken was declared the “best ever” by 2 teenagers. The service was excellent, Brandon was super friendly and helpful.
Loved the music too, upstairs was piped country but live band downstairs who sounded great.
Would recommend and revisit if I was ever in the area again.

Probably the best food I’ve had in newyork. Our server Spencer was knowledgeable and offered great advice on what to order. I recommend this place to anybody in the area

Had a great pre-show dinner here! When we arrived our server, Isabelle, was clearly busy but was able to get our drinks and food in with time to spare. Highly recommend the watermelon margaritas, the pulled pork, and sitting in Isabelle's section if you want excellent service with a quick turn around.
